Summary

This 2026 Leopard 5 Ultra represents the new frontier of rugged luxury, blending supercar-rivaling acceleration with the hardware of a dedicated desert explorer. As the flagship Ultra trim, it benefits from the sophisticated DiSus-P hydraulic body control system, making it just as capable on a weekend dune trip as it is refined on the daily highway commute. The Black exterior is the premier choice for the GCC market, offering the highest resale liquidity and a timeless aesthetic that suits both urban and off-road settings. For a buyer in the Emirates or Saudi Arabia, this PHEV offers a unique opportunity to drive on pure electric power for city errands while retaining a massive petrol-assisted range for cross-border expeditions. This is a rare chance to own a technical powerhouse that bridges the gap between traditional body-on-frame 4x4s and modern electric performance.

This Car vs Other 2026 Leopard 5s

With delivery mileage, this 2026 model offers a significant advantage over high-use SUVs typically found in the GCC market where annual travel often exceeds 25,000 km. The Black exterior is a high-demand, strong resale color across the region, ensuring better value retention compared to the more niche launch colors. As a Chinese-spec vehicle, it comes loaded with a higher level of interior technology and cabin materials than many international equivalents.

ULTRA vs Lower Trims

The Ultra trim is distinguished by the inclusion of the DiSus-P Intelligent Hydraulic Body Control system, which provides active damping and adjustable ride height for superior comfort in the heat and stability in the sand. Unlike lower trims, the Ultra features upgraded interior materials including Nappa leather and a full premium audio suite. It also adds a high-definition Head-Up Display (HUD) and an expanded ADAS suite for safer long-distance driving on major GCC highways.

Leopard 5 vs Segment Rivals

The Leopard 5 leads its segment with a 4.8-second 0–100 km/h time, comfortably out-accelerating traditional rivals like the Toyota Land Cruiser 250 and Tank 500. While competitors rely solely on combustion, this PHEV offers a 125 km (CLTC) pure electric range, allowing for fuel-free city driving in heavy Dubai or Riyadh traffic. Its 1,200 km combined range also surpasses most petrol-only SUVs, making it a superior choice for long desert expeditions.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world efficiency is excellent for its class, particularly in stop-start city traffic where the electric motors handle the heavy lifting. The 83-liter fuel tank combined with hybrid assistance means fewer stops during long-haul drives between emirates. While this is a Chinese-spec vehicle, BYD has a rapidly expanding authorized service presence in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, with parts availability supported by regional hubs in Jebel Ali. Depreciation for high-spec Chinese hybrids has stabilized as the service infrastructure matures across the GCC.

Performance & Capability

Powered by the DMO super-hybrid platform, this SUV generates a massive 680 hp and 760 Nm of torque, providing effortless overtaking power on high-speed motorways. The DiSus-P suspension allows for a maximum ground clearance of 310 mm and a wading depth of 780 mm, ensuring it can handle rugged wadi crossings and soft sand dunes. Selectable terrain modes including Sand and Rock allow the intelligent 4WD system to adapt instantly to local off-road conditions.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for the extreme GCC summer, featuring ventilated and heated front seats along with a powerful multi-zone climate control system. Acoustic glass helps isolate the interior from road noise and desert heat, while the 18-speaker premium audio system provides an immersive experience. The interior layout remains spacious for five adults, with a high-resolution central display that acts as the command center for the vehicle's tech-heavy environment.

Safety

Standard safety equipment includes a full suite of L2+ Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), such as adaptive cruise control, lane-centering assist, and blind-spot monitoring, all of which are invaluable for fast-moving GCC highway traffic. A 360-degree camera with a 'transparent chassis' view provides critical visibility when navigating tight urban parking or technical off-road trails. The vehicle is also equipped with a comprehensive array of airbags and high-strength steel construction for maximum passenger protection.

The bottom line

This Leopard 5 Ultra is the ideal choice for a tech-forward buyer who wants the ruggedness of a classic 4x4 with the performance and efficiency of a modern hybrid, all in a high-resale Black-on-Brown configuration.
