Summary

This 2026 BYD Leopard 5 Ultra arrives with just 50 km on the odometer, offering a practically brand-new entry into the high-performance hybrid SUV segment. The Ultra trim represents the flagship configuration, featuring the advanced DiSus-P hydraulic body control system that significantly enhances both desert capability and highway refinement. In the GCC market, the black exterior remains a top-tier choice for resale value, while the DM-o hybrid powertrain provides a rare combination of 680-hp performance and fuel efficiency. For buyers across the UAE and Saudi Arabia, this model stands out as a tech-heavy alternative to traditional V6 off-roaders, delivering instant electric torque for dune driving without the high fuel costs of a daily commuter.

This Car vs Other 2026 Leopard 5s

With only 50 km, this vehicle is essentially a delivery-mileage example, offering a significant advantage over typical GCC annual usage which often reaches 25,000 km. The black exterior is one of the most sought-after colors in the regional used market, ensuring better value retention compared to less conventional shades. As a 0-year-old vehicle, it provides the full lifespan of its Blade Battery and mechanical components to the next owner.

ULTRA vs Lower Trims

The Ultra (also known as the Flagship or Yunnian edition) is the only trim to feature the DiSus-P intelligent hydraulic suspension, which allows the ride height to increase from 220 mm to 310 mm. It adds a front differential lock to the standard center and rear locks, creating a true triple-locking system for extreme off-roading. Inside, the Ultra upgrades the cabin with premium Nappa leather, a 50-inch AR head-up display, and a dedicated 12.3-inch passenger entertainment screen.

Leopard 5 vs Segment Rivals

The Leopard 5 leads rivals like the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado and Tank 500 in pure performance, utilizing a dual-motor hybrid setup to deliver a 0-100 km/h time of 4.8 seconds. While traditional rivals rely on diesel or petrol-only engines, the Leopard 5 offers 125 km of pure electric range for silent city driving. Its body-on-frame construction ensures it matches the ruggedness of established 4x4s while offering superior interior tech and acceleration.

Running Costs & Resale

Fuel efficiency is a major highlight, with the hybrid system significantly undercutting the fuel consumption of traditional V6 SUVs in stop-start Dubai or Riyadh traffic. While this is a Chinese-spec model, BYD's growing presence in the UAE via authorized partners has improved parts availability, though buyers should note the GB/T charging standard for home wallbox setups. Resale value for high-spec Chinese hybrids is currently strong in the GCC, as buyers increasingly prioritize technology and lower daily running costs.

Performance & Capability

The 680-hp powertrain delivers 760 Nm of torque, providing effortless overtaking on the E11 and immense low-end grunt for Hatta wadi runs. The DiSus-P suspension not only helps clear desert obstacles but also minimizes body roll during high-speed highway cruising. With six dedicated terrain modes including Sand and Mud, the vehicle electronically manages torque vectoring to ensure grip on the region's diverse loose surfaces.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for the GCC climate, featuring powerful dual-zone air conditioning and ventilated Nappa leather seats that are essential for summer driving. The smart 5-screen cockpit provides a futuristic environment, while acoustic glass ensures a quiet interior even at highway speeds. The refrigerator in the center console is a high-value addition for long desert expeditions or cross-border family road trips.

Safety

This Ultra trim comes standard with the full DiPilot 3.0 suite, featuring adaptive cruise control and lane centering which are ideal for the long highways between Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The 360-degree camera system includes a 'transparent chassis' view, allowing the driver to see rocks and obstacles directly beneath the vehicle during off-road maneuvers. Additional safety features include blind-spot monitoring and a comprehensive 11-airbag system to protect all occupants.

The bottom line

This delivery-mileage Leopard 5 Ultra is the perfect opportunity for a tech-forward buyer who wants supercar-level acceleration and genuine desert capability in a luxury SUV package.
