Summary

This 2026 Leopard 5 Ultra represents the new frontier of rugged luxury, blending supercar-rivaling acceleration with the hardware of a dedicated desert explorer. As the flagship Ultra trim, it benefits from the sophisticated DiSus-P hydraulic body control system, making it just as capable on a weekend dune trip as it is refined on the daily highway commute. The Grey exterior is a highly practical choice for the GCC, hiding desert dust effectively while maintaining strong resale appeal. For a buyer in the Emirates or Saudi Arabia, this PHEV offers a unique opportunity to drive on pure electric power for city errands while retaining a massive petrol-assisted range for cross-border expeditions. This is a technical powerhouse that bridges the gap between traditional body-on-frame 4x4s and modern electric performance.

This Car vs Other 2026 Leopard 5s

With zero specified mileage, this brand-new unit offers a significant advantage over used 2024 or 2025 inventory often found in the market. As a 2026 model, it features the most up-to-date software and battery management systems optimized for the latest DMO platform. The Grey paint is a neutral, high-demand color in the GCC, ensuring better value retention than more niche experimental shades.

ULTRA vs Lower Trims

The Ultra trim is the definitive flagship, adding the essential DiSus-P Intelligent Hydraulic Body Control system which is absent on the Pilot and Navigator trims. This system allows for adjustable ride height and superior damping on rough terrain. You also gain the high-end 18-speaker Devialet audio system and the full 3-screen digital dashboard, including a dedicated 12.3-inch entertainment display for the front passenger.

Leopard 5 vs Segment Rivals

The Leopard 5 directly challenges the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado and the Tank 500 by offering nearly double the horsepower through its 500 hp hybrid setup. Unlike the Jeep Wrangler, it provides a refined, tech-heavy cabin with ventilated and massaging seats as standard. Its body-on-frame construction ensures it remains a true peer to traditional 4x4s in the desert while delivering vastly superior fuel efficiency in stop-start city traffic.

Running Costs & Resale

Fuel consumption is remarkably low for a 500 hp SUV, with real-world hybrid figures averaging around 8.2L/100km. In the UAE and Saudi Arabia, service is typically handled through specialized new-energy vehicle centers like EVS, as this is a Chinese regional spec. While initial depreciation for new Chinese brands is higher than Japanese stalwarts, the Leopard 5 is currently seeing high demand and stable secondary prices in the UAE due to its unique performance-to-price ratio.

Performance & Capability

The DMO platform delivers a staggering 760 Nm of torque, enabling a 0-100 km/h sprint of just 4.8 seconds—unheard of for a ladder-frame SUV. Its off-road prowess is anchored by three differential locks and a dedicated low-range mode for crawling. With a maximum ground clearance of 310 mm and a wading depth of 790 mm, it is engineered to handle the most demanding wadis and dunes in the region.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a sanctuary from the GCC heat, featuring powerful dual-zone climate control and ventilated front seats as standard. The 5-seat layout provides generous legroom thanks to the 2,800 mm wheelbase, while the interior materials lean heavily into premium territory with Nappa leather and customizable ambient lighting. A factory-fitted refrigerator in the center console ensures cold drinks are always available during long desert drives.

Safety

Safety is comprehensive with the DiPilot L2+ ADAS suite, including adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, and autonomous emergency braking. For tight city parking in Dubai or Riyadh, the 360-degree high-definition camera system and transparent chassis view are invaluable. The high-strength steel body-on-frame and multiple airbag system provide robust protection, while the Blade Battery technology is globally recognized for its industry-leading thermal stability.

The bottom line

For the GCC enthusiast who wants Land Cruiser capability with supercar acceleration and modern hybrid efficiency, this 2026 Ultra is the most complete package currently available in the mid-size SUV segment.
