Summary

This BYD Song Pro represents a smart entry into the PHEV market, offering a nearly new vehicle at just one year old. As a Comfort trim, it balances modern tech with exceptional efficiency, featuring the fifth-generation DM-i hybrid system that significantly reduces fuel costs in GCC stop-start traffic. The white exterior is the most sought-after color for resale in the region, providing excellent heat reflection and long-term value retention. For buyers looking to bridge the gap between petrol and electric, this crossover eliminates range anxiety while offering a smooth, tech-forward daily drive. It stands out as a highly practical choice for the urban commuter who occasionally tackles long inter-emirate highway stretches.

This Car vs Other 2025 Song Pros

At only 1 years old, this Song Pro is effectively in its prime, offering the latest hybrid hardware with minimal wear. In the GCC market, where annual mileages often exceed 25,000 km, a one-year-old vehicle provides a significant advantage in mechanical longevity. The white exterior is a strategic choice for the local climate, known for its high resale demand and superior ability to stay cool under the intense summer sun.

COMFORT vs Lower Trims

The Comfort trim adds essential technology that enhances the daily GCC driving experience, including a larger rotating infotainment screen and high-definition 360-degree cameras for easier parking in tight urban spaces. It upgrades the cabin with synthetic leather upholstery and improved sound insulation, providing a more refined environment during long highway commutes compared to the base entry models. You also benefit from additional safety sensors that are often omitted on lower-tier specifications.

Song Pro vs Segment Rivals

The Song Pro leads its class in efficiency, with its 3.2 L/100km consumption figure comfortably beating the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid and Haval H6 HEV in real-world urban testing. While rivals like the RAV4 focus on traditional mechanical reliability, the BYD offers significantly more pure electric range, allowing for zero-fuel daily commutes that competitors cannot match. Its cabin tech and rotating display also provide a more futuristic feel than the more conservative interiors of its Japanese peers.

Running Costs & Resale

Running costs are among the lowest in the SUV segment, especially if you utilize home charging for daily trips; fuel consumption remains an impressive 3.2 L/100km even when the battery is depleted. BYD has established a robust authorized service network across major GCC cities, with standard service intervals typically set at every 10,000 km or 12 months. Resale value for Chinese PHEVs is stabilizing rapidly in the UAE, with the Song Pro currently retaining approximately 60% of its value after three years, narrowing the gap with traditional market leaders.

Performance & Capability

The 1.5L hybrid powertrain delivers a seamless driving experience, reaching 0-100 km/h in approximately 8.3 seconds, which provides confident overtaking power for fast-moving UAE highways. With a total combined range of 1,100 km (CLTC), this SUV is purpose-built for long-distance travel between emirates without the need for frequent refueling stops. The front-wheel-drive setup is tuned for comfort and stability, easily handling the standard road surfaces and light gravel paths found across the region.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the 5-seat layout is spacious and features a powerful air conditioning system specifically designed to maintain cabin temperatures during peak GCC summers. The central rotating touchscreen acts as the hub for all vehicle settings, while dedicated rear vents ensure all passengers remain comfortable during long family road trips. The flat-folding rear seats allow for a significant increase in cargo capacity, making it highly practical for supermarket runs or weekend getaways.

Safety

This trim comes equipped with a comprehensive suite of active safety features, including Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and an advanced 360-degree panoramic camera system for maximum visibility. The PHEV architecture includes BYD's renowned Blade Battery technology, which is engineered to withstand high temperatures and physical stress better than traditional lithium chemistries. Multiple airbags and ISOFIX points make it a secure and responsible choice for families prioritizing safety.

The bottom line

This 1-year-old BYD Song Pro is the ideal choice for a tech-savvy family or commuter looking to slash fuel bills without the limitations of a full EV. In the GCC's strongest resale color, it represents a secure and efficient investment in modern mobility.
