Summary

This 2025 Toyota 86 GR is the definitive lightweight sports car for the GCC, offering a pure rear-wheel-drive experience that is increasingly rare. With its horizontally opposed boxer engine, the car maintains a remarkably low center of gravity, translating to sharp handling on well-paved UAE roads. As a GCC-spec model, it benefits from a cooling system and air conditioning unit engineered to handle peak summer temperatures without performance drop-off. The white exterior is the most practical choice for the region, reflecting heat effectively and ensuring the strongest possible resale value in the local market. For the enthusiast driver in Dubai or Abu Dhabi, this automatic variant balances daily traffic usability with genuine weekend thrills at the track.

This Car vs Other 2025 86s

As a 2025 model, this car represents the latest mechanical refinement of the second-generation platform, featuring updated suspension tuning for better steering feel. In the GCC market, where high-speed highway driving is standard, this specific listing offers a significant advantage with its factory-fresh components and local warranty eligibility. The white paint is the preferred choice for the UAE climate, consistently commanding higher demand and faster turnaround times compared to darker hues.

GR vs Lower Trims

The GR (Gazoo Racing) trim elevates the 86 from a simple commuter coupe to a serious performance tool with 18-inch matte-black alloy wheels wrapped in high-performance Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires. Inside, you move beyond basic cloth to heated sport seats featuring Ultrasuede inserts and leather bolsters, which provide essential grip during spirited cornering and better breathability in heat. This trim also upgrades the audio experience to an eight-speaker system and adds critical safety tech like Blind Spot Detection, which is invaluable on busy multi-lane highways.

86 vs Segment Rivals

The 86 remains the purist's choice against rivals like the Audi TT or BMW 2 Series by sticking to a naturally aspirated engine that offers linear power delivery without turbo lag. While competitors often prioritize heavy luxury features, the Toyota focuses on a lightweight chassis that excels in technical sections and tight urban maneuvers. Its 50-liter fuel tank and efficient boxer engine provide a balanced range for cross-emirate trips while maintaining a lower purchase and maintenance cost than European alternatives.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption typically averages around 8.8 L/100km, though this can rise to 12 L/100km in heavy stop-start traffic in downtown Riyadh or Dubai. Toyota’s authorized service network is the most extensive in the GCC, with Al Futtaim and Ebrahim K. Kanoo providing specialized GR service centers that keep maintenance straightforward and affordable. The 86 enjoys exceptional value retention, typically depreciating only 8-10% annually, significantly outperforming European sports coupes in the local secondary market.

Performance & Capability

The 2.4-liter engine delivers a punchy 233 hp, allowing the automatic variant to reach 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds with smooth, rapid shifts via steering-mounted paddles. The rear-wheel-drive layout and Torsen limited-slip differential provide predictable, engaging dynamics that make every highway exit and desert road a playground. Unlike many sports cars, its cooling system is specifically validated for GCC operation, ensuring the engine stays within optimal temperature ranges even during spirited drives in 45°C heat.

Comfort & Cabin

The 2+2 seating layout provides a driver-focused cockpit with dual-zone automatic climate control that is famous for its rapid cooling ability in the desert sun. While the rear seats are best suited for extra luggage or short trips, the front bucket seats are designed to keep you centered and comfortable during long drives between emirates. The integration of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on the 8-inch touchscreen ensures seamless navigation and connectivity for the modern GCC commuter.

Safety

This GR trim comes equipped with the full Active Safety Suite, including Pre-Collision Braking, Lane Departure Warning, and Adaptive Cruise Control, which significantly reduces fatigue on the long desert stretches of E11. Blind Spot Detection and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert provide essential visibility in fast-moving traffic, while seven airbags and a high-strength frame offer robust protection. These systems are standard on the GCC GR trim, offering a level of driver assistance often reserved for luxury sedans.

The bottom line

This 2025 GR86 is the perfect entry point for a GCC enthusiast who needs a reliable, heat-resistant daily driver that transforms into a precision instrument on the weekends.
