Mercedes-Benz To Discontinue Station Wagon, Coupe & SUV Coupe Models: New Product Lineup In The Pipeline

Mercedes-Benz seems set to revamp its product lineup over the next few years. In a time span of nearly a decade, the German car manufacturer will end up discontinuing most of its current models including what some describe as the more emotive cars from Stuttgart. Some iconic body styles like the Station Wagon, SUV Coupe, and Two-Door Coupe will all see the end of the road.

Mercedes-Benz is quite simply one of the most iconic car manufacturers in the world. Its origins can be traced to the first-ever internal combustion engine-powered car and the marque has produced some legendary cars through the decades. Now though, the brand is taking a new direction.

Mercedes-Benz has become one of the first mainstream car manufacturers to launch a whole range of electric cars and this blitzkrieg of electric vehicles from Stuttgart is expected to continue over the coming years. In order to make way for the new, Mercedes has to let go of the old, and that is exactly what the brand plans on doing.

Nearly a year ago, in May 2022, Mercedes-Benz revealed its plans of making its portfolio more profitable and premium than it already is. The brand planned to reshape and resize its entire product lineup and now, a report by CarAndDriver has revealed how Mercedes-Benz plans on doing so.

Only the profitable and upmarket models will remain while the models with few and far between sales will all eventually be phased out. The C-Class and E-Class Convertibles and Coupes will be the first to go, and this is expected to happen sometime between this year and 2024.

Under the new product plan, four-door coupes aren’t all too safe either. The Mercedes-Benz CLS and Mercedes-AMG GT 4 Door will also be shown the door in 2024 or 2025. The Mercedes-Benz GLC and GLE Coupes are aspirational and extremely stylish models and decent levels of demand for these SUV Coupes have made sure Mercedes develops another generation of them. However, after that, even these models will be phased out. This will probably happen by the end of the decade.

All of these models are retailed in the UAE as well and hence, the discontinuation of these body styles will also affect the aspirational and affluent buyers of Dubai and Abu Dhabi. If you are interested in these models, check out the new Mercedes-Benz cars for sale in the UAE

However, there’s yet another body style that isn’t on sale in the UAE but is very popular in Europe and quite a few of them have been imported into the UAE as well. Shooting Brakes or Station Wagons are one of those emotive Mercedes-Benz cars and now, the brand has decided to discontinue this body style as well.

2030 is expected to see the last production Station Wagon from Mercedes-Benz and this will be the E-Class Wagon bidding goodbye. As aforementioned, a few station wagons and shooting brakes have been imported into the UAE and more are expected to be imported over the next few years before production is stopped. A few of them can be found in the used Mercedes-Benz cars in the UAE section of DubiCars.

However, to replace these outgoing models, Mercedes-Benz plans to launch a few other new cars including the CLE-Class with its two-door offerings. More details are expected to surface as the launch draws closer. Stay tuned to the DubiCars for the latest automotive news.
