Highlights

• 382 hp from a 5.5-litre V8
• 0–100 km/h in 5.4 seconds
• 90-litre fuel tank standard

Summary

This 2007 Mercedes-Benz S550 represents the pinnacle of executive motoring from the W221 era, pairing a potent 5.5L V8 with a classic white exterior—a high-demand color for resale in the UAE. With 110,000 km on the clock, this sedan has been driven significantly less than the 20,000+ km annual average typical for the GCC, suggesting a life of careful, occasional use. While newer flagships have shifted to smaller turbocharged engines, the S550’s naturally aspirated V8 offers a smooth, linear power delivery that is increasingly hard to find. For the GCC buyer, the combination of iconic S-Class presence and a well-preserved mechanical state makes this a compelling alternative to modern entry-level luxury cars.

This Car vs Other 2007 S550s

At 110,000 km, this vehicle’s mileage is notably low for a 2007 model in the GCC market, where highway-heavy driving often puts similar cars well past the 250,000 km mark. The white exterior is a strategic choice for the region, offering the highest heat reflection and maintaining the strongest resale demand in the UAE. Most S-Class models of this vintage show significant wear, making this lower-mileage example a rare find for collectors or daily commuters.

STANDARD vs Lower Trims

The S550 serves as a significant step up from the base S350, replacing the V6 with a 382 hp V8 engine that provides the effortless highway overtaking required for GCC motorways. This trim includes the Harman/Kardon Logic7 surround sound system and the COMAND infotainment platform with navigation as standard. It also features the AIRMATIC semi-active air suspension, which provides a level of ride refinement and adjustable clearance that lower-trim competitors often lacked.

S550 vs Segment Rivals

When compared to the BMW 750i and Audi A8 of the same era, the S550 leads in cabin insulation and overall ride serenity. Its 90-litre fuel tank is specifically advantageous for long-distance cross-border drives between Emirates, providing a greater cruising range than many modern rivals. Furthermore, the W221 generation is widely regarded for its superior air conditioning performance, a critical factor for comfort during the peak GCC summer months.

Running Costs & Resale

The naturally aspirated V8 is designed for longevity, though buyers should expect a combined fuel consumption of approximately 11.7 L/100km, which can rise in Dubai or Riyadh stop-start traffic. As a 'Other' regional spec, buyers should verify the presence of the GCC-standard upgraded cooling system and heavy-duty filtration. Mercedes-Benz maintains one of the most robust authorized service networks across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, ensuring that parts and specialist technicians remain readily available.

Performance & Capability

The 5.5L V8 engine produces a verified 382 hp, propelling this full-size sedan from 0–100 km/h in just 5.4 seconds. The 7G-TRONIC automatic transmission is tuned for smoothness, keeping the engine at low RPM during high-speed cruising on Sheikh Zayed Road. With a top speed electronically governed at 250 km/h, it remains one of the most capable and composed highway cruisers available in the used market.

Comfort & Cabin

The interior is a sanctuary of burl walnut trim and premium leather, offering a spacious five-seat layout with generous rear legroom. Standard features include 14-way power-adjustable front seats and dual-zone climate control with dedicated rear vents to combat extreme heat. The acoustic glass and heavy sound dampening ensure that the cabin remains hushed, even when traveling at high highway speeds.

Safety

This S550 is equipped with Mercedes-Benz's pioneering Pre-Safe system, which prepares the cabin for an imminent collision by tensioning belts and closing windows. Standard safety features include eight airbags, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), and Brake Assist (BAS), providing essential stability on sandy or rain-slicked road surfaces. The W221's robust occupant cell was engineered to exceed global safety standards, making it a secure choice for family transport.

The bottom line

This is an ideal opportunity for a professional seeking flagship V8 luxury and low mileage at a fraction of the cost of a new sedan. Its classic color and well-maintained status make it a standout choice in the current UAE used market.
