Nissan Tiida SV

• 467 litres boot space
• Extensive GCC authorised service network
• Strong value retention in the GCC used market

Summary

This Nissan Tiida SV is a prime example of the durability that has made the model a staple on GCC roads for nearly two decades. At 18 years old, its silver exterior remains a top-tier choice for heat reflection and resale value in the local market, while the mileage is exactly where you would expect for a well-maintained commuter in this region. The SV trim offers a meaningful step up in comfort over basic fleet models, making it an ideal choice for first-time buyers or as a reliable secondary vehicle. The Tiida's reputation for having one of the most spacious cabins in the compact segment makes it particularly suited for the long-distance highway driving common across the Emirates.

This Car vs Other 2008 Tiidas

While many 2008 models in the market have exceeded 300,000 km, this unit sits at a consistent average for the GCC, indicating steady use rather than excessive wear. The silver paint is the most practical choice for the region, showing significantly less sun-fading and dust than darker alternatives. Finding a GCC-spec SV trim in this condition is increasingly rare, as most examples from this era have been repurposed for heavy delivery work.

SV vs Lower Trims

The SV trim adds essential comfort features that the base S trim lacks, including premium cloth upholstery and upgraded interior trim materials. Most importantly for GCC buyers, it typically includes powered windows and mirrors, along with an improved audio interface. These features, while standard today, were premium additions in 2008 that significantly improve the daily driving experience in stop-start traffic.

Tiida vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Toyota Corolla and Honda Civic of the same era, the Tiida leads significantly in vertical cabin space and rear legroom. Its high roofline makes it easier to enter and exit, and the 467-litre boot capacity outperforms almost every other sedan in the compact class. The Nissan also benefits from a softer suspension tune, providing a more comfortable ride over highway expansion joints than its firmer rivals.

Running Costs & Resale

The Tiida is famous for its low running costs, with parts available at almost every independent garage and authorized center across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman. The 1.6L or 1.8L powertrains are designed to run efficiently on 91 or 95 octane fuel, with real-world consumption averaging around 7.8L/100km on combined cycles. Resale value for the Tiida remains exceptionally strong in the GCC, as it is one of the most sought-after models for those seeking mechanical simplicity and long-term reliability.

Performance & Capability

With a top speed of 186 km/h, the Tiida is more than capable of handling the fast-paced 140 km/h highway speeds of the E11 and E311. The four-cylinder engine is paired with a smooth automatic transmission that focuses on fuel economy and steady power delivery. It offers a turning circle of just 10.4 metres, making it one of the easiest sedans to park in tight Dubai or Abu Dhabi basement garages.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the Tiida offers 'pillow-style' seating that provides superior comfort for long drives between emirates. The air conditioning system is specifically engineered for the high-ambient temperatures of the Middle East, maintaining a cold cabin even during July and August. The flat rear floor design allows three adults to sit in the back with more foot room than many cars in the class above it.

Safety

Standard safety features on the GCC SV trim include dual front airbags and Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD). These systems provide essential stability during sudden stops on sandy or dusty road surfaces. The vehicle's structural design earned a 4-star ANCAP safety rating, offering peace of mind for family transport.

The bottom line

This 18-year-old Tiida is the perfect choice for a buyer who prioritizes interior space and mechanical reliability above all else. It is a proven workhorse that remains one of the smartest value-retention plays in the UAE used car market today.
