Nissan Patrol SE PLATINUM CITY

Highlights

• 273 mm minimum ground clearance
• 3,500 kg braked towing capacity
• Eight seats with all-wheel drive

Summary

This 2020 Nissan Patrol SE Platinum City represents a balanced choice for GCC buyers, pairing the reliable 4.0L V6 with a luxury specification usually reserved for V8 models. At 115,000 km, its mileage is exactly what is expected for a six-year-old vehicle in this region, where long-distance highway commutes are the standard. The Grey exterior is a highly practical choice for the local climate, showing less dust than darker shades while maintaining strong resale demand in the UAE and Saudi markets. As the top-tier V6 trim, it offers the presence of the iconic Y62 facelift without the higher fuel overhead of the V8. For any owner in the Gulf, the massive authorized service network and unmatched parts availability make this the most sensible large SUV investment available.

This Car vs Other 2020 Patrols

With 115,000 km over six years, this vehicle sits perfectly within the average GCC usage band of 20,000 km annually. While lower-mileage examples exist, they often carry a significant price premium that doesn't always reflect better mechanical health, given these engines thrive on regular highway use. The Grey paintwork is a neutral, high-resale color that resists the fading often seen on darker vehicles under intense local sun exposure.

SE PLATINUM CITY vs Lower Trims

The Platinum City trim is a substantial upgrade over the SE T2 and Titanium grades, introducing genuine quilted leather upholstery and ventilated front seats that are essential for UAE summers. It also adds a 360-degree Around View Monitor and a power-adjustable steering column with memory, features that significantly improve the daily experience of parking and driving such a large vehicle.

Patrol vs Segment Rivals

The Patrol's primary rival is the Toyota Land Cruiser, but the Nissan leads significantly in third-row legroom and overall cabin width, making it a better choice for large families. Against the Ford Expedition, the Patrol offers a traditional naturally aspirated engine and a heavy-duty body-on-frame construction that is better suited for frequent weekend desert excursions and high-heat durability.

Running Costs & Resale

The 4.0L V6 typically returns 14-16 L/100km on the highway, making it more efficient than its V8 sibling for long-distance cruising between emirates. Service intervals are strictly every 10,000 km in the GCC, and with authorized centers like Al Masaood and Arabian Automobiles widely available, maintenance is straightforward. The Patrol retains its value exceptionally well, typically losing only 8-10% annually, which is among the lowest depreciation rates in the UAE used market.

Performance & Capability

With a 3,500 kg braked towing capacity and a 140-liter fuel tank, this SUV is built for long-range travel and heavy hauling. The 275 hp V6 is paired with a 7-speed automatic transmission that is tuned for smooth city driving and effortless highway overtaking. Its selectable terrain modes—Sand, On-Road, Rock, and Snow—ensure that it remains as capable on the Liwa dunes as it is on Sheikh Zayed Road.

Comfort & Cabin

This eight-seater configuration features a spacious three-row layout with dedicated rear climate control vents to ensure all passengers remain cool in 45°C temperatures. The Platinum City cabin is insulated with acoustic glass, significantly reducing road noise during high-speed highway drives. Standard features like the cooled center console box provide a practical touch for keeping beverages chilled during long summer trips.

Safety

The SE Platinum City comes equipped with a comprehensive suite of driver assistance technologies, including Blind Spot Warning and Rear Cross Traffic Alert, which are vital for the fast-moving, multi-lane traffic common in the GCC. It also features Intelligent Forward Collision Warning and a 360-degree camera system to assist with low-speed maneuvering. Multiple airbags and a robust body-on-frame structure provide high levels of passive safety for all eight occupants.

The bottom line

This listing is the ideal opportunity for a family buyer who wants the full luxury experience and iconic road presence of a Platinum-spec Patrol with the more manageable running costs of the V6 engine.
