Summary

This Nissan Pathfinder SE T2 offers a reliable entry point for families seeking a rugged, body-on-frame SUV built to handle the GCC's demanding environment. Its white exterior remains a top-tier choice for resale value in the local market, effectively reflecting the desert sun while maintaining a clean look. Equipped with a robust V6 powertrain, this model balances highway cruising comfort with genuine off-road hardware for weekend adventures. As an SE T2 trim, it provides a well-rounded equipment list that satisfies both daily commuting needs and long-distance travel across the emirates. For a 2009 model, the Pathfinder stands out for its mechanical simplicity and parts availability, making it a predictable and sturdy ownership prospect.

This Car vs Other 2009 Pathfinders

With just over 200,000 km, this vehicle's mileage is consistent with average annual usage for a large family SUV in the GCC. Given the long highway distances common between cities like Dubai and Abu Dhabi, this figure indicates a vehicle that has been regularly utilized rather than left sitting. The white paint is the most preferred color for used buyers in the UAE, ensuring it stays cooler in the summer and holds its value better than darker alternatives.

SE T2 vs Lower Trims

The SE T2 trim builds on the base S model by adding essential comfort features that local buyers prioritize, such as rear parking sensors and upgraded interior upholstery. It typically features a more sophisticated climate control system with dedicated rear vents, ensuring all seven passengers remain cool during peak summer months. Unlike lower trims, the T2 often includes roof rails and fog lamps as standard, enhancing its utility and road presence.

Pathfinder vs Segment Rivals

Compared to rivals like the Toyota Prado or Mitsubishi Pajero, the Pathfinder offers a smoother highway ride due to its independent rear suspension setup, which was unique among body-on-frame SUVs at the time. It features a generous 3,000 kg braked towing capacity, making it a stronger choice for those needing to haul jet skis or campers. While the Prado is often geared purely for the desert, the Pathfinder provides a more refined cabin experience for long family road trips across the region.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 4.0L V6 averages around 13.1 L/100km, reflecting its capability as a heavy-duty family hauler. Maintenance is straightforward, with Nissan’s extensive authorized service network across the UAE and Saudi Arabia providing easy access to parts and specialized technicians. The Pathfinder maintains a stable depreciation curve in the GCC market, benefiting from a loyal following of owners who value its durability and lower entry price compared to its Toyota counterparts.

Performance & Capability

The 4.0L V6 engine delivers 266 hp and 385 Nm of torque, providing ample power for high-speed highway overtaking and navigating soft sand. Built on a rugged platform shared with the Nissan Navara, this SUV features a true low-range transfer case for genuine off-road capability. With 220 mm of ground clearance, it is well-suited for weekend camping trips and exploring desert trails while maintaining a stable footprint on the road.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for family logistics, offering seven seats with a flat-folding third row that creates a vast cargo area when not in use. Rear-seat passengers benefit from a dedicated climate zone with overhead vents, which is crucial for maintaining comfort in extreme GCC temperatures. Insulation is well-tuned to keep wind and road noise at bay during long-distance drives, ensuring a quiet environment for the whole family.

Safety

Standard safety equipment includes dual front airbags and ABS with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), providing essential protection for all occupants. The body-on-frame construction provides a rigid safety shell, while Nissan's Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) helps maintain stability on gravel surfaces or slippery road conditions. The high seating position also grants excellent visibility, a key advantage when navigating busy multi-lane highway traffic.

The bottom line

This Pathfinder is the ideal match for a budget-conscious family that needs seven-seat versatility and real towing power without the premium price tag of a newer model. Its white GCC-spec configuration makes it a low-risk, high-utility choice for the region's unique driving conditions.
