Summary

This Nissan Murano SL offers a compelling blend of Japanese reliability and premium features that punch above its age. With 158,000 km over 14 years, it has been driven significantly less than the typical GCC annual average, making it a well-preserved choice for those seeking comfort without the steep depreciation of newer models. The silver exterior is a top-tier choice for the region, reflecting heat effectively and maintaining strong resale demand in the secondary market. As an SL trim, it provides a high-end cabin experience that rivals luxury brands while benefiting from Nissan's widespread parts availability. It is a practical, smooth-riding crossover perfectly suited for daily city commutes and long highway drives across the Emirates.

This Car vs Other 2012 Muranos

At 158,000 km, this vehicle has covered roughly 11,000 km per year, which is less than half the 20,000–25,000 km typically seen on GCC-used cars of this vintage. The silver paintwork is one of the most practical colors for the local climate, showing less dust and retaining value better than darker shades. This lower-than-average usage for a 14-year-old vehicle suggests a more favorable mechanical life ahead compared to high-mileage examples.

SL vs Lower Trims

The SL trim is a significant step up from the base S and mid-level SV variants, adding essential GCC comforts like leather-appointed upholstery and a driver’s seat memory system. Most notably, it upgrades the cabin with a premium 11-speaker Bose audio system including dual subwoofers and a dual-panel panoramic moonroof. It also includes a power liftgate and rain-sensing wipers, features often reserved for the flagship LE trim.

Murano vs Segment Rivals

The Murano leads competitors like the Ford Edge and Toyota Kluger in terms of cabin refinement and distinctive styling, offering a more car-like driving experience. Its 82-litre fuel tank provides a superior cruising range for long-distance travel between cities like Dubai and Muscat compared to many compact crossovers. While rivals may offer more cargo room, the Murano focuses on passenger comfort and high-quality interior materials.

Running Costs & Resale

The 3.5L V6 is a staple of the Nissan lineup, ensuring that spare parts are affordable and easily accessible through a vast network of authorized centers like Arabian Automobiles and Al Masaood. Real-world fuel consumption averages around 10.9 L/100km on combined cycles, though city traffic will see this rise to roughly 14 L/100km. Nissan vehicles in the GCC benefit from better value retention than their American or European counterparts, typically depreciating at a stable 8–10% annually.

Performance & Capability

Powered by the proven VQ-series V6 engine, this Murano delivers 260 hp and can reach 100 km/h in approximately 8 seconds, providing confident overtaking power on fast-moving UAE highways. The Xtronic CVT is tuned for smoothness, making it an excellent companion for the stop-start traffic of Riyadh or Dubai. While designed primarily for on-road use, its 185 mm ground clearance easily handles gravel tracks and weekend trips to the beach.

Comfort & Cabin

The interior is designed as a 'mobile suite,' featuring double-stitched leather seats and dual-zone automatic climate control that is robust enough to handle 45°C summers. Rear passengers benefit from dedicated cooling vents and reclining seats, ensuring comfort during extended family road trips. The cabin is exceptionally well-insulated, providing a quiet environment that allows the 11-speaker Bose system to truly shine.

Safety

Safety is prioritized with a comprehensive suite of six airbags, including front-side and curtain protection. Standard features for this trim include a RearView monitor for easier parking and Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) with Traction Control to maintain stability on sandy or wet surfaces. The Murano also utilizes large 4-wheel vented disc brakes with Brake Assist, providing reliable stopping power for high-speed highway driving.

The bottom line

For the GCC buyer seeking a premium V6 SUV that balances luxury features with low maintenance costs, this low-usage Murano SL is an excellent opportunity. It offers the comfort of a high-spec crossover at a fraction of the cost of a new vehicle.
