Toyota Prado GX Toyota Prado 2009 model V4 engine

Highlights

• Full-size spare wheel
• Body-on-frame construction
• Extensive GCC authorised service network

Summary

This 2009 Toyota Prado GX represents a rare find in the GCC market, showing exceptionally low mileage for its age. As a legendary body-on-frame 4x4, it offers a level of durability that newer crossovers struggle to match, particularly in extreme desert conditions. The Silver exterior is one of the most resilient colors for resale in the region, reflecting heat effectively and maintaining its luster over time. For a buyer seeking the ultimate balance between a reliable family commuter and a weekend off-road explorer, this low-distance example is a standout opportunity. The sheer strength of the Toyota service network ensures that maintenance remains straightforward and accessible across all seven Emirates and the wider Gulf.

This Car vs Other 2009 Prados

At just 57,000 km, this Prado has covered significantly less ground than the typical 250,000+ km usually seen on 2009 models in the UAE. This ultra-low mileage makes it a mechanical outlier, offering the tight handling and interior freshness of a much newer vehicle. The Silver finish is the gold standard for GCC resale, ensuring higher liquidity and value retention compared to less popular shades.

GX vs Lower Trims

The GX trim provides the essential 4x4 hardware required for serious GCC off-roading, including the robust all-wheel-drive system and a full-size rear-mounted spare wheel. It avoids the complex air suspension found in higher grades, which many local owners prefer for long-term simplicity and easier aftermarket customization. This specific trim is favored by enthusiasts for its rugged, no-nonsense approach to desert travel.

Prado vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Mitsubishi Pajero of the same era, the Prado offers superior resale value and a more extensive parts network across the GCC. While the Nissan Pathfinder focuses more on road comfort, the Prado's body-on-frame construction makes it the more capable choice for dune bashing and crossing soft sand. Its dual-tank capability (standard on many GCC units) also provides a significant range advantage for long cross-border drives to Oman or Saudi Arabia.

Running Costs & Resale

The Prado is famous for having the lowest depreciation rate in its class within the UAE market, often holding its value better than luxury European SUVs. Real-world fuel consumption for the petrol engine stays consistent with segment averages, benefiting from a massive parts ecosystem that keeps service costs low. With authorized service centers located in every major GCC city, professional maintenance is never more than a short drive away.

Performance & Capability

With a 220 mm ground clearance, this Prado is factory-ready for the UAE's diverse terrain, from the craggy wadis of Hatta to the rolling dunes of Liwa. The 240 hp output provides steady, reliable power for highway overtaking and the low-end torque necessary for climbing steep inclines. Its All-Wheel Drive system ensures maximum traction on both rain-slicked city asphalt and shifting desert sands.

Comfort & Cabin

The seven-seat layout is designed with GCC family logistics in mind, offering a versatile cabin that can be reconfigured for extra cargo or passengers. The air conditioning system is specifically engineered for the 45°C+ regional summers, featuring dedicated rear vents to ensure all three rows stay cool. Durable fabric seating and acoustic insulation provide a quiet, comfortable environment during long inter-emirate highway cruises.

Safety

Standard safety features include dual front airbags and an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) designed for varied surfaces. The high driving position provides excellent visibility in fast-moving highway traffic, while the heavy-duty chassis offers a robust safety cell for all seven occupants. Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) comes standard to help maintain stability during emergency stops, even when the vehicle is fully loaded with family gear.

The bottom line

This is a rare opportunity to own a 'time capsule' Prado with incredibly low mileage, making it a perfect choice for a buyer who values mechanical longevity and legendary Toyota reliability in the GCC.
