Summary

This 2010 Mazda 6 R presents a strong case for drivers seeking a reliable, driver-focused commuter that punches above its weight in style. While its mileage is higher than average for the GCC market, these units are known for their mechanical resilience, often reaching high figures when maintained properly. The Burgundy exterior offers a sophisticated alternative to common tones, maintaining good presence and holding resale value better than more eccentric colors in the region. Compared to its peers, this model stands out for its athletic handling and spacious interior, making it an ideal choice for daily highway journeys across the Emirates. For a GCC buyer, the primary draw is the blend of Japanese engineering reliability with the generous cabin proportions of the American-spec version.

This Car vs Other 2010 Mazda 6s

With 320,000 km, this vehicle has been driven more than the typical 20,000–25,000 km annual GCC average, suggesting a life spent largely on open highways rather than in engine-taxing stop-start city traffic. The Burgundy finish is a sought-after shade in the UAE, offering a premium look that resists the 'faded' appearance sometimes seen on lighter-colored older vehicles. As an American-spec model, it benefits from the larger mid-size chassis developed specifically for that market, offering more shoulder and legroom than international variants.

R vs Lower Trims

The R trim (often corresponding to the Touring or Touring Plus grade in other markets) upgrades the ownership experience with 17-inch alloy wheels and enhanced interior appointments over the base models. Key additions typically include a power-adjustable driver’s seat and upgraded instrumentation that provides a more modern feel for the driver. These features are highly valued in the local market, where interior comfort directly impacts the comfort of long-distance summer commutes.

Mazda 6 vs Segment Rivals

The Mazda 6 leads rivals like the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord of the same era in terms of driving dynamics and steering precision. While the Camry focuses on soft ride quality, the Mazda 6 provides a more engaged experience, which is particularly noticeable during highway lane changes and sweeping turns. Additionally, its 0.27 drag coefficient is among the best in its class, aiding in highway stability when facing GCC wind conditions.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 2.5L engine averages around 8.7 L/100km combined, offering a balanced profile for both city and highway use. Parts availability for this generation remains excellent across the GCC, with a vast network of independent shops and authorized centers capable of servicing the vehicle at competitive rates. While it depreciates slightly faster than its Toyota counterparts, the lower entry price of a high-mileage Mazda 6 offers significant value for money in the pre-owned market.

Performance & Capability

The 170 hp output ensures the Mazda 6 can maintain highway speeds of 120-140 km/h with ease, providing enough torque for confident overtaking. Its 70-litre fuel tank is a major advantage for regional travel, allowing for extended ranges that minimize the need for frequent fuel stops on routes between major cities. The automatic transmission is tuned for smooth shifts, prioritizing reliability and long-term durability over aggressive performance.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the 5-seat cabin is designed with a focus on ergonomics, featuring a driver-centric cockpit and ample rear legroom for adult passengers. The air conditioning system in the Mazda 6 is robust, designed to handle high ambient temperatures efficiently, which is a critical requirement for GCC summers. Generous boot space of 470 litres makes it a practical choice for airport runs or weekend family trips across the border.

Safety

This trim comes equipped with essential safety features including multiple airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), and Dynamic Stability Control (DSC). These systems provide a necessary safety net for high-speed highway driving and help maintain vehicle control on sandy or slippery road surfaces. The structure of the 2010 Mazda 6 also earned high federal safety ratings, providing peace of mind for family-oriented buyers.

The bottom line

For the budget-conscious buyer looking for a stylish and mechanically sound sedan that handles the highway with grace, this Mazda 6 R is a practical and rewarding opportunity.
