Summary

This 2010 Mercedes-Benz SL350 represents a refined entry into the world of luxury roadsters, offering a balance of performance and grand touring comfort. With its Japanese regional specification, this model often features high-grade interior materials and meticulous maintenance histories that appeal to discerning GCC buyers. The white exterior is a prime choice for the region, ensuring maximum heat reflection during summer months while maintaining the strongest possible resale value in the local market. Its naturally aspirated V6 provides a smooth, linear power delivery that is perfectly suited for both the fast-moving highways of the UAE and weekend coastal drives. For a buyer looking for a prestigious 2-seater with a folding hardtop, this SL350 offers a timeless aesthetic and German engineering at a compelling point in its life cycle.

This Car vs Other 2010 SL350s

With 128,000 km on the odometer, this SL350 sits well below the typical GCC average of 20,000–25,000 km per year, which would usually place a 2010 model closer to 280,000 km. The Japanese specification is highly regarded in the UAE for typically being kept in climate-controlled environments before export, often resulting in better-preserved rubber seals and interior plastics. The white finish is the most sought-after color in the GCC used market, providing a significant advantage for future liquidity compared to darker shades.

STANDARD vs Lower Trims

As a facelifted R230 model, this trim includes the updated 7G-TRONIC seven-speed automatic transmission which provides 30% faster shifts than earlier versions. It comes standard with the COMAND infotainment system and dual-zone digital climate control, essential for maintaining cabin temperatures in the desert heat. Unlike the V8 models, the SL350 typically utilizes traditional coil springs rather than the complex Active Body Control (ABC) suspension, offering significantly lower long-term maintenance costs for GCC owners.

SL350 vs Segment Rivals

The SL350 competes directly with the BMW 6 Series Convertible and the Jaguar XK, but leads in versatility thanks to its Vario-roof folding hardtop that provides true coupe-like insulation from GCC highway noise and summer heat. Its 80-litre fuel tank is larger than many competitors, offering a superior cruising range for long-distance trips between Emirates. The Mercedes-Benz brand also enjoys a more extensive authorized service footprint across the GCC than Jaguar, ensuring better parts availability in smaller markets.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 3.5L V6 averages approximately 10.3 L/100km, though this may increase in stop-start traffic in Dubai or Riyadh. Service intervals are generally every 15,000 km, with a widespread network of authorized Gargash and Emirates Moto centers available in the UAE for specialized maintenance. European luxury roadsters of this era typically see a depreciation rate of 12-15% annually in the GCC, but the SL-Class holds its value better than the smaller SLK due to its flagship status.

Performance & Capability

The 362 hp output allows for a 0–100 km/h sprint in just 6.2 seconds, providing effortless overtaking capability on fast-moving highways like the E11. Its rear-wheel-drive chassis is tuned for grand touring, offering a stable and planted feel at its electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h. While not intended for the dunes, its low-slung profile and wide track provide excellent handling characteristics for the well-paved winding roads of Jebel Jais or the Hatta mountains.

Comfort & Cabin

The two-seat cabin is a masterclass in ergonomics, featuring power-adjustable memory seats finished in high-grade leather that resists the intense local sun well. The dual-zone climate control is engineered to cope with extreme temperatures, and the heated seats are a welcome feature for winter evening drives with the roof down. Even with the top retracted, the cabin remains remarkably calm thanks to the integrated wind deflector, allowing for comfortable open-air driving across the UAE.

Safety

Safety is paramount with a suite of six airbags and a pop-up rollover bar system that deploys in milliseconds if a tilt is detected. Standard electronic stability programs and anti-lock brakes provide essential traction control on sandy or gravel-strewn road shoulders. The bi-xenon headlights offer excellent visibility during night-time desert highway transits, and the standard parking sensors assist in navigating tight urban parking spaces in major GCC cities.

The bottom line

This Japanese-spec SL350 is the ideal choice for a buyer seeking a low-mileage, classic Mercedes roadster that balances iconic style with manageable running costs in the GCC market.
