Summary

This Toyota Prado TX-L represents a definitive choice for GCC buyers seeking legendary reliability in a practical family package. While its mileage reflects the typical long-distance highway use common in the region, the robust 4.0L V6 engine is famed for mechanical longevity and simple maintenance. The white exterior remains the most sought-after color for heat reflection and resale value in the local market, ensuring it stays cooler during summer months. For a GCC owner, the blend of desert-ready capability and a seven-seat layout makes this a versatile daily driver that holds its value exceptionally well.

This Car vs Other 2010 Prados

With 241,000 km, this vehicle sits at the average mileage mark for a 2010 model in the GCC, where annual driving often reaches 20,000 km or more. The white paintwork is a significant advantage for local resale, as it is the most popular color in the UAE and Saudi markets. This specific unit benefits from being the facelifted J150 generation, which introduced a more refined interior and improved road manners over the previous model.

TX-L TOP vs Lower Trims

The TX-L TOP trim bridges the gap between the utilitarian entry-level models and the luxury-focused variants by adding essential GCC comforts. It includes a factory-fitted cooled center console (Cool Box) and cruise control, which are often missing on base TX trims. You also get the upgraded 4.0L V6 engine and a seven-seat configuration, providing significantly more power and flexibility than the 2.7L four-cylinder alternatives.

Prado vs Segment Rivals

The Prado leads rivals like the Mitsubishi Pajero and Nissan Pathfinder in terms of long-term mechanical durability and ease of servicing across all GCC borders. Its full-time 4WD system and high ground clearance make it more capable for weekend desert excursions than road-biased crossovers in the same price bracket. Additionally, the Prado consistently maintains a higher residual value than its American and European competitors in the local used market.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 4.0L V6 typically averages around 13L/100km, performing efficiently on long GCC highway stretches between emirates. Service intervals are strictly recommended every 10,000 km to ensure the engine and cooling systems withstand the extreme summer heat. Toyota's authorized service network is the most extensive in the region, with centers available in every major city from Dubai to Riyadh. As a GCC-spec model, it enjoys a 10-15% value premium over imported variants at resale.

Performance & Capability

The 4.0L V6 engine delivers 271 hp, providing ample power for highway overtaking and navigating soft sand dunes. Its body-on-frame construction and low-range transfer case ensure genuine off-road capability that most modern SUVs cannot match. With 220 mm of ground clearance, it easily clears rough terrain and rocky tracks common during regional road trips. The five-speed automatic transmission is tuned for durability, offering smooth shifts even under heavy loads or in stop-start traffic.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin features a versatile seven-seat layout with a fold-flat third row, a major upgrade introduced for the 2010 model year. High-output air conditioning with rear vents ensures all passengers remain comfortable even when outside temperatures exceed 45°C. The interior includes soft-touch materials on the dashboard and a premium feel compared to previous generations, while the cooled center console is perfect for keeping beverages chilled during long drives.

Safety

This Prado comes equipped with essential safety features including Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and Traction Control (TRC) to maintain grip on gravel and sandy surfaces. Multiple airbags are standard, providing peace of mind for family use. The braking system utilizes ventilated discs on all four wheels for consistent stopping power in the fast-moving highway traffic common across the GCC.

The bottom line

This Prado is an ideal match for a family or adventurer looking for a reliable, GCC-ready SUV that will not depreciate like a luxury rival. It is a rare opportunity to own a well-maintained, high-spec V6 model that is equally at home in the city or deep in the dunes.
