Highlights

• 0–100 km/h in 5.0 seconds
• 430 hp from a 4.7-litre V8 Biturbo
• 90-litre fuel tank standard

Summary

This S500 is a quintessential GCC executive cruiser, offering the updated 4.7-litre Biturbo V8 that provided a massive leap in torque over earlier models. Finished in Brown—a refined, heat-reflective choice that holds its value well in the regional market—this AMG Premium trim balances aggressive styling with world-class refinement. For a high-mileage flagship, it remains a compelling choice because the W221 generation was engineered to a standard of mechanical durability that few modern rivals can match. It provides a level of road presence and interior luxury that remains highly respected across UAE highways and professional circles.

This Car vs Other 2011 S500s

With 210,000 km, this vehicle has been driven roughly 16,000 km per year, which is significantly lower than the GCC average of 25,000 km for executive sedans. The Brown exterior is a sophisticated alternative to the common silver, offering better heat management than black while maintaining a high resale profile in the UAE market. For its age, the car’s condition and regional GCC specification make it a more reliable prospect than imported North American or European models.

AMG PREMIUM vs Lower Trims

The AMG Premium trim is the most sought-after specification in the GCC, adding the aggressive AMG body styling, larger alloy wheels, and a more focused interior finish. Over the standard S500, this trim typically includes features vital for the local climate, such as ventilated and cooled seats, a premium Harman Kardon audio system, and the advanced Airmatic suspension for superior highway damping.

S500 vs Segment Rivals

The S500 leads rivals like the BMW 750i and Audi A8 in terms of pure cabin quietness and ride quality on long inter-city drives. Its 90-litre fuel tank provides a greater cruising range for trips between Dubai and Riyadh, while the Mercedes-Benz air conditioning system is widely regarded as the most effective in the segment for handling 45°C+ summer peaks.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption averages around 10.9 L/100km, which is efficient for a V8 of this size on the highway, though city traffic will see this rise. Service intervals are managed by the ASSYST Plus system, typically occurring every 15,000 km at the extensive network of authorized centers across the UAE and KSA. While luxury sedans face steep initial depreciation, the W221 has now reached a value floor, ensuring stable price retention for the next owner.

Performance & Capability

The 4.7-litre Biturbo V8 produces a massive 700 Nm of torque, allowing for effortless highway overtaking and a 0–100 km/h sprint of just 5.0 seconds. The rear-wheel-drive chassis is paired with a 7G-TRONIC automatic transmission that prioritizes smooth shifts, making long-distance travel exceptionally relaxed. A top speed of 250 km/h is electronically limited, showcasing the high-speed stability engineered into the S-Class platform.

Comfort & Cabin

The five-seat cabin is a masterclass in insulation, using double-glazed acoustic glass to block out desert wind noise and road hum. GCC-specific comfort is ensured by high-output multi-zone climate control and ventilated front seats that provide active cooling during summer months. The layout provides generous rear legroom, making it equally suitable for family road trips or executive commuting.

Safety

This trim features Mercedes-Benz's full PRE-SAFE system, which prepares the cabin for impact, along with nine airbags and advanced stability control. The adaptive braking system and blind-spot monitoring are particularly useful for fast-moving UAE highway traffic, while the bi-xenon headlights with Active Light System provide superior visibility during nighttime desert drives.

The bottom line

For the buyer who wants flagship V8 presence without the steep depreciation of a newer model, this GCC-spec S500 AMG Premium is a mechanically robust and prestigious choice.
