Summary

This 13-year-old Chevrolet Tahoe LS represents the quintessential American full-size SUV, offering a level of durability that few modern crossovers can match. While the 300,000 km mileage is high, it is consistent with a long-distance cruiser of this age in the GCC, where these engines are known to cross the half-million mark with routine care. The bold red exterior is a rare find in a market dominated by white and silver, providing a distinctive look without sacrificing the model's legendary resale appeal. As a body-on-frame workhorse, it excels at highway stability and heavy-duty family logistics, making it a practical entry point into the large SUV segment. For a buyer in the Emirates or Saudi Arabia, the sheer abundance of parts and specialized mechanics makes this a low-stress project or daily driver.

This Car vs Other 2013 Tahoes

At 300,000 km, this Tahoe has been driven roughly 23,000 km per year, which aligns perfectly with the higher annual averages typical of highway driving in the GCC. While many listings might show lower numbers, this vehicle's mileage is honest for its age and reflects a life spent on open roads rather than in damaging stop-start city heat. The red paint is a unique alternative to the standard fleet colors, often fetching a quicker sale for buyers looking to stand out.

LS vs Lower Trims

The LS serves as the entry point to the Tahoe lineup but maintains essential GCC comforts like tri-zone climate control with dedicated rear vents. Unlike base commercial variants, the LS trim includes premium cloth seating, power-adjustable front seats, and Bluetooth connectivity as standard. It avoids the complex Magnetic Ride Control found in higher trims, which many local owners prefer for its lower long-term maintenance costs and simpler suspension repairs.

Tahoe vs Segment Rivals

The Tahoe is frequently cross-shopped with the Toyota Sequoia and Nissan Armada, leading the segment with a massive 98-litre fuel tank that is ideal for long cross-border drives to Oman or Saudi Arabia. Its 5.3L V8 is simpler and more affordable to service than the overhead-cam engines found in Japanese rivals, offering a more traditional 'truck' feel. The Tahoe also offers superior maximum towing capacity compared to most mid-size alternatives, making it the better choice for boat or horse trailer owners.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption averages around 13.5 L/100km, though highway cruising can drop this significantly due to Active Fuel Management (cylinder deactivation). Chevrolet enjoys one of the most robust authorized service networks in the UAE and KSA, ensuring parts are available in almost every industrial area. The Tahoe holds its value exceptionally well in the GCC, typically depreciating at 10-12% annually, far slower than European luxury SUVs. Even at this mileage, the demand for V8 Tahoes remains high among desert campers and large families.

Performance & Capability

The 5.3-litre Vortec V8 delivers 320 hp and 460 Nm of torque, providing plenty of grunt for highway overtaking even when fully loaded with five passengers and luggage. With a 3,719 kg towing capacity and a heavy-duty 6-speed automatic transmission, it is a genuine heavy-lifter. The 231 mm ground clearance allows for confident driving on gravel tracks and light sand, making it a versatile companion for weekend escapes into the dunes or wadis.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for long-distance comfort, featuring a wide 5-seat configuration that offers more shoulder room than almost any other vehicle in its class. The 'ice-cold' American air conditioning system is a major selling point in the GCC, capable of cooling the large interior quickly even in 50°C summer peaks. Dedicated rear climate zones ensure that all passengers stay comfortable, while the massive boot space easily swallows camping gear or large grocery hauls.

Safety

Standard safety equipment includes StabiliTrak electronic stability control with Proactive Roll Avoidance, which is essential for a high-profile SUV on fast-moving highways. It features six airbags, including head-curtain side-impact bags for all outboard seating positions, and a tire pressure monitoring system. The 4-wheel disc brakes with ABS provide reliable stopping power, while the heavy-duty steel frame provides a significant safety advantage in a region where larger vehicles are the norm.

The bottom line

This is the ideal choice for a buyer who needs a bulletproof V8 workhorse for a fraction of the price of a new SUV. It offers the perfect balance of American power and local serviceability, making it a smart, high-value purchase for the growing GCC family.
