Powering the ML63 is a 5.5-litre twin-turbocharged V8 that has transformed the AMG ML’s performance. With impressive figures of 525bhp and 700Nm of torque is outstanding power compared to some of its rivals, the ML 63 is seriously fast - particularly through the rev range. Peak torque is available from below 2000rpm, and so powering along the highway and accruing overtaking speeds are tasks this luxury five-seater takes to with spectacular relish.
To sharpen handling Mercedes is fitted with ‘Active Curve System’ featuring active anti roll bars that stiffen when cornering forces are applied, also gets adaptive dampers and active AMG air suspension, which automatically drops the body lower at higher road speeds. As before the AMG gets permanent four-wheel drive and a 40:60 torque split, with most of the twist sent to the rear wheels unless slip is encountered.
