Toyota Land Cruiser GXR V6

Highlights

• Selectable terrain modes with low-range transfer case
• Eight seats with a full-size spare wheel
• Extensive GCC authorized service network

Summary

This 13-year-old Land Cruiser GXR is a standout opportunity in the GCC market, offering the legendary durability of the V6 powertrain with a mileage of 155,000 km that is exceptionally low for its age. The Grey exterior is a highly practical and respected choice for local resale, resisting the visibility of desert dust while maintaining a premium look. As a GXR trim, it provides a significantly more comfortable interior than base models, making it a versatile tool for both the school run and weekend desert expeditions. The Land Cruiser remains the ultimate choice for GCC buyers due to its unmatched parts availability and the cooling performance of its AC system, which is engineered specifically for our extreme summer heat.

This Car vs Other 2013 Land Cruisers

With only 155,000 km on the odometer, this vehicle has averaged roughly 12,000 km per year, which is nearly half the typical GCC annual average for a full-size SUV. This low-usage history makes it a rare find among 2013 models, which often exceed 250,000 km in this region. The Grey finish is one of the most stable colors for value retention in the UAE and Saudi markets, trailing only white in popularity.

GXR vs Lower Trims

The GXR trim provides essential upgrades over the base GX, including a more refined wood-grain interior finish and a powered driver's seat for improved long-distance comfort. It also features a factory-integrated cooler box in the center console, a must-have for GCC summers, and enhanced exterior aesthetics with 18-inch alloy wheels and chrome detailing. These additions significantly increase the vehicle's desirability and resale floor compared to lower fleet-oriented specifications.

Land Cruiser vs Segment Rivals

While the Nissan Patrol offers a similar footprint, the Land Cruiser leads the segment in long-term reliability and the sheer density of its service network across every GCC border. Its V6 engine offers a more fuel-efficient alternative for daily city commuting compared to the Chevrolet Tahoe's V8, without sacrificing the heavy-duty body-on-frame construction required for serious off-roading. The Land Cruiser's resale value remains the benchmark in the region, consistently outperforming American and European rivals after the ten-year mark.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 4.0L V6 typically averages between 13.0L/100km and 14.5L/100km, depending on the ratio of highway cruising to city stop-start traffic. Being a GCC-spec Toyota, it benefits from the region's most affordable parts ecosystem and standardized 10,000 km service intervals that can be performed at any authorized center from Muscat to Kuwait City. Historically, this model retains approximately 45-55% of its value even after 13 years, a figure virtually unmatched by any other SUV in its class.

Performance & Capability

The 271 hp V6 engine is paired with a robust All-Wheel Drive system and a dedicated low-range transfer case, providing the mechanical torque necessary for deep sand driving. It features approximately 225 mm of ground clearance, allowing it to navigate rugged wadi terrain and desert dunes with confidence. On the highway, the 4.0L powerplant provides smooth, linear power delivery that is well-suited for long-distance travel between emirates.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is configured for eight passengers, featuring a versatile third row that folds up to the sides to reveal a massive cargo area. The air conditioning system is world-renowned for its cooling speed, utilizing powerful rear vents to ensure all three rows remain comfortable during 45°C+ summer days. High-quality materials and acoustic insulation provide a quiet environment, effectively shielding passengers from road noise and desert wind during high-speed highway transit.

Safety

Standard safety equipment on this GXR includes a comprehensive airbag system with dual front, side, and curtain coverage for all rows. It features Toyota's Star Safety System, which integrates Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Active Traction Control (A-TRAC), and Multi-terrain ABS to maintain grip on loose sand or wet tarmac. The inclusion of brake assist and electronic brake-force distribution provides extra security during emergency stops on fast-moving GCC highways.

The bottom line

For the buyer seeking the ultimate balance of low mileage and legendary Toyota reliability, this GCC-spec GXR is the ideal family workhorse that will hold its value for years to come.
