Summary

This Ford Edge Sport represents a calculated purchase for a UAE buyer seeking performance without the overhead of a luxury badge. With under 100,000 km, this vehicle has been driven well below the typical GCC annual average, leaving plenty of mechanical life for the next owner. The Sport trim transforms this crossover with a potent twin-turbo V6 and sport-tuned suspension, offering a sharper drive than the standard commuter SUV. Blue is a distinct yet widely accepted color in the local market, ensuring it stands out while maintaining solid resale appeal. For the GCC climate, its powerful cooling system and refined cabin make it a highly capable year-round companion.

This Car vs Other 2016 Edges

At 99,000 km, this Edge sits comfortably below the expected 160,000–200,000 km range typically seen on 2016 models in the UAE. While many used examples feature the naturally aspirated 3.5L V6, this Sport trim carries the far more desirable 2.7L EcoBoost engine. The Blue exterior provides a refreshing alternative to the sea of white and silver SUVs, without compromising your ability to find a buyer at resale time.

SPORT vs Lower Trims

The Sport trim is a significant leap over the SEL and Titanium, replacing the standard engine with a twin-turbocharged V6 that delivers 350 lb-ft of torque. It adds unique piano-black exterior accents, 20-inch wheels, and adaptive steering that adjusts based on vehicle speed. Inside, you get premium perforated leather seats with suede inserts and a 12-speaker Sony audio system that isn't standard on base models.

Edge vs Segment Rivals

Against rivals like the Nissan Murano and Jeep Grand Cherokee, the Edge leads in urban refinement and on-road agility thanks to its unibody construction. Its class-leading rear legroom and wide cabin make it more family-friendly than the Murano for long drives between Emirates. While the Grand Cherokee focuses on off-roading, the Edge Sport prioritizes high-speed highway stability and overtaking power.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel economy for the 2.7L EcoBoost typically averages 11.9 L/100km, which is efficient for a 300+ horsepower SUV in GCC stop-start traffic. Ford's extensive service network across the UAE and Saudi Arabia ensures that parts are readily available and maintenance is more affordable than European competitors. As a GCC-spec Sport model, it historically retains roughly 10-15% more value than American-spec imports found in local markets.

Performance & Capability

The 2.7L twin-turbo V6 provides 315 hp, allowing for effortless highway merging even when fully loaded with passengers. Its Intelligent All-Wheel Drive system monitors grip levels every 16 milliseconds, providing confidence during sudden rain showers or on sandy gravel roads leading to desert campsites. The sport-tuned suspension is firmer than other trims, significantly reducing body roll during spirited drives through mountain passes like Jebel Jais.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is remarkably quiet thanks to Active Noise Cancellation, which uses microphones to detect and neutralize wind and road noise at high speeds. Rear passengers enjoy dedicated air conditioning vents, essential for maintaining comfort during the peak GCC summer months. With 1,110 liters of boot space behind the second row, there is ample room for large grocery hauls or family weekend luggage.

Safety

This Edge comes equipped with a comprehensive safety suite, including a 360-degree sensor system and a rearview camera with a built-in washer to clear desert dust. Standard stability control and Curve Control technology automatically reduce engine torque if you enter a turn too quickly, a vital feature for fast-moving highway interchanges. It also features eight airbags, including knee airbags, providing top-tier protection for all five occupants.

The bottom line

For the buyer who wants the power of a performance SUV with the running costs of a mainstream brand, this low-mileage Edge Sport is a rare find in the current GCC market.
