Summary

This 10-year-old Land Cruiser EXR is a definitive choice for GCC buyers who prioritize mechanical simplicity and legendary durability over complex electronics. While the mileage reflects active use, these 4.0L V6 units are famous across the region for their ability to cross 400,000 km with basic maintenance. The white exterior is the most practical selection for the local market, offering superior heat reflection during summer and ensuring the strongest possible resale value. This specific trim balances essential off-road hardware with 7-seat family practicality, making it a robust companion for both daily commutes and weekend desert excursions. For a buyer looking for a reliable, long-term workhorse with unmatched parts availability, this is a highly logical investment.

This Car vs Other 2016 Land Cruisers

With 218,000 km, this vehicle has averaged approximately 21,800 km per year, which is remarkably consistent with the typical GCC usage pattern of 20,000 to 25,000 km annually. While some listings may show lower figures, those are often city-bound cars, whereas this mileage typically indicates a life of long-distance highway cruising where the engine operates at peak efficiency. The white paint remains the gold standard for resale in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, holding a value premium over less popular colors.

EXR vs Lower Trims

The EXR trim serves as the gateway to the Land Cruiser's luxury-offroad hybrid identity, offering significantly better cabin materials and exterior styling compared to the entry-level utility trims. It includes essential features GCC buyers look for, such as dual-zone climate control with rear vents to combat extreme heat, and alloy wheels that provide a more executive road presence. Crucially, it retains the full mechanical 4x4 suite, including the low-range gear set that cheaper crossovers lack.

Land Cruiser vs Segment Rivals

Compared to rivals like the Nissan Patrol or the Mitsubishi Pajero, the Land Cruiser leads in total ownership confidence due to the sheer density of Toyota service centers across all seven Emirates and the wider GCC. Its naturally aspirated 4.0L V6 is preferred by regional mechanics for its heat tolerance and lack of turbocharger complexity compared to newer American competitors. Furthermore, its body-on-frame rigidity offers a level of desert durability that monocoque rivals simply cannot match over a ten-year lifespan.

Running Costs & Resale

Fuel consumption for the 4.0L V6 typically averages 13.0L/100km, a fair trade-off for the reliability it provides in stop-start city traffic and sand-heavy environments. The Japanese regional spec is well-supported by local parts suppliers, ensuring that maintenance costs remain predictable and affordable. Toyota Land Cruisers currently hold the strongest value retention in the GCC used market, typically depreciating at a significantly slower rate than European luxury SUVs of the same age.

Performance & Capability

The 271 hp V6 engine provides steady, reliable torque that is perfectly calibrated for long-distance cruising at GCC highway speeds. Off the tarmac, the low-range transfer case and 230 mm ground clearance allow it to navigate soft dunes and rocky wadis that would stop most family SUVs. The All Wheel Drive system ensures consistent grip during the sudden rainstorms or sand-covered road conditions often encountered in the region.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for seven passengers, featuring a high-output air conditioning system specifically engineered to cool the large interior volume rapidly even in 45°C temperatures. Rear-seat passengers benefit from dedicated cooling vents, essential for family comfort during long drives between cities. The white exterior and quality cabin insulation work together to minimize heat soak, keeping the interior comfortable even after hours of sun exposure.

Safety

Standard safety features on this trim include a suite of airbags and Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), which is particularly useful for maintaining traction on loose sand and gravel. The heavy-duty braking system is designed to handle the vehicle's weight during highway emergency stops, and the high seating position provides excellent visibility in fast-moving multi-lane traffic. ABS and Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) come standard, ensuring stable performance during sudden decelerations.

The bottom line

This Land Cruiser is the ideal match for a GCC resident who needs a bulletproof 7-seater that is as capable on a Friday desert trip as it is on a Sunday school run.
