Summary

This 2017 Honda Civic DX represents a durable entry into one of the region's most trusted sedan lineages. While its mileage is higher than the typical GCC average for its age, the Civic is renowned for its mechanical longevity and cost-effective maintenance across the Emirates. Finished in a bold Red, it offers a standout look in a market dominated by white and silver, while maintaining the strong resale profile Honda is famous for. Its 1.6-litre powertrain strikes a calculated balance between city agility and long-term reliability for the daily commuter. For a buyer seeking a predictable, high-value workhorse that handles the local heat with ease, this listing is a practical and proven choice.

This Car vs Other 2017 Civics

With 260,000 km, this Civic has been driven more than the typical GCC average of 20,000–25,000 km per year, likely reflecting consistent long-distance highway use between emirates. While the mileage is high, Honda's robust engineering means these vehicles frequently reach significantly higher totals with routine care. The Red exterior is a rare choice that adds character while remaining a viable color for future resale in the active local used market.

DX vs Lower Trims

As a Canadian-spec DX, this model focuses on essential reliability and simplicity, which many GCC buyers prefer for long-term ownership. It features the standard 5-inch central display and rearview camera, providing necessary modern conveniences without the complexity of higher-tier infotainment systems. The DX trim also includes 60/40 split-folding rear seats, a feature that enhances cargo flexibility compared to basic fleet-spec sedans.

Civic vs Segment Rivals

The Civic regularly competes with the Toyota Corolla and Nissan Sentra, standing out with its more sophisticated multi-link rear suspension that provides superior stability on fast-moving UAE highways. Its 428-litre boot capacity is one of the most generous in the compact sedan segment, comfortably outclassing several rivals for family grocery runs or airport trips. Additionally, the Civic’s reputation for A/C performance remains a key advantage during the peak GCC summer months.

Running Costs & Resale

The 1.6L engine is one of the most efficient in its class, delivering an observed combined fuel economy of approximately 6.5–7.5 L/100km depending on GCC traffic conditions. Service intervals are typically every 10,000 km, and with the most extensive authorized service network in the region (including Al-Futtaim in the UAE), parts are both affordable and widely available. The Civic enjoys one of the lowest depreciation rates in the Middle East, often retaining 10–15% more value than its European counterparts over a three-year period.

Performance & Capability

The 124 hp i-VTEC engine is paired with a smooth CVT that is optimized for fuel-efficient low-rpm cruising on long desert stretches. It reaches a top speed of 200 km/h and handles high-speed overtaking with predictable, linear power delivery. The front-wheel-drive layout and 10.8-meter turning circle make it exceptionally easy to maneuver through dense city traffic in Dubai or Riyadh.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the Civic offers a surprisingly spacious cabin for five passengers, with class-leading legroom that makes long drives between cities comfortable. The air conditioning system is specifically designed to handle extreme ambient temperatures, ensuring rapid cabin cooling even after the car has been parked in the sun. Practical storage solutions and durable cloth upholstery make this interior well-suited to the demands of daily commuting and family life.

Safety

Safety is a priority with standard front, side, and curtain airbags providing comprehensive protection for all occupants. The 2017 Civic also features Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure, which is designed to enhance occupant protection in frontal collisions. Standard stability control and anti-lock brakes (ABS) ensure the vehicle remains composed on diverse road surfaces, from rain-slicked city streets to sandy highway shoulders.

The bottom line

This Honda Civic is the ideal choice for a budget-conscious commuter who prioritizes mechanical reliability and high resale value above all else. It offers a proven platform that is perfectly adapted to the GCC's demanding climate and road conditions.
