Summary

This 2017 Honda Civic EX offers a modern driving experience with a suite of technology typically reserved for newer models. The white exterior is a strategic choice for the GCC, providing the best heat reflection during intense summer months while maintaining the highest resale demand in the local market. As an EX trim, it bridges the gap between basic commuters and premium sedans by including a moonroof and advanced smartphone integration as standard. For the long-distance GCC driver, this Civic provides a balanced mix of 2.0L reliability and consistent fuel efficiency across the Emirates. It remains a top choice for those seeking a dependable daily driver that handles city traffic and highway speeds with equal composure.

This Car vs Other 2017 Civics

With 288,000 km, this vehicle has served as a high-utilization commuter, which is common for reliable Japanese sedans in the UAE. While the mileage is above the market average, it reflects the car's mechanical durability for long-distance highway travel between cities. The white exterior provides a significant advantage for resale value and cabin cooling in the Gulf climate.

EX vs Lower Trims

The EX trim provides a substantial technology boost over the base LX, most notably adding the 7-inch Display Audio touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Essential for GCC safety, this trim includes the LaneWatch blind-spot camera and a multi-angle rearview camera with dynamic guidelines. Interior comfort is further enhanced by a power moonroof, remote engine start, and an upgraded 8-speaker audio system.

Civic vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Toyota Corolla and Nissan Sentra of the same era, the Civic EX offers a more sophisticated chassis and superior infotainment integration. It leads the segment in interior volume with approximately 95 cubic feet of passenger space, providing more legroom for family use than most rivals. The inclusion of the LaneWatch camera system gives it a unique safety edge during fast-paced highway lane changes.

Running Costs & Resale

The 2.0L i-VTEC engine is renowned for its low maintenance requirements and is fully compatible with standard fuel grades across the GCC. While this is an American spec vehicle, many mechanical components are shared with local models, though buyers should note that parts availability is strongest through independent specialists in Sharjah and Al Aweer. Honda maintains one of the strongest resale profiles in the UAE, typically depreciating slower than European competitors.

Performance & Capability

The 2.0-liter naturally aspirated engine delivers a smooth 156 hp, providing reliable power without the complexity of a turbocharger. Paired with a refined CVT, it achieves a 0-100 km/h time of approximately 8.9 seconds, making it more than capable for highway overtaking. The Earth Dreams technology focus ensures that even at higher speeds, the engine maintains excellent thermal efficiency suited for the region's heat.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for five passengers with an emphasis on ergonomic utility and effective cooling through a powerful air conditioning system. High-quality fabric seating and a quiet interior make long commutes across the Emirates comfortable, while the 493-liter boot offers ample space for family errands. Tech-savvy drivers will appreciate the dual USB ports and the seamless connectivity provided by the HondaLink system.

Safety

Safety is a hallmark of this generation, which earned a 5-star overall rating from the NHTSA. Standard features on this EX trim include Honda's Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure, six airbags, and electronic stability control. The addition of LaneWatch and a multi-angle camera system provides extra confidence when navigating the multi-lane highways of Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

The bottom line

Perfect for the budget-conscious professional or small family, this Civic EX offers premium features like a moonroof and smartphone tech in a proven, reliable package.
