Summary

This 2017 Range Rover Sport HSE Dynamic offers the perfect balance of prestige and performance for the GCC driver. The Dynamic trim is a highly sought-after tier in the local market, bridging the gap between standard models and the flagship V8s with upgraded styling and a potent 340-hp supercharged V6. While many luxury SUVs of this vintage have been driven heavily across borders, this example’s mileage is consistent with average use for a well-maintained UAE vehicle. Its black-on-black color scheme remains a top-tier choice for resale strength in the region, ensuring it holds its value better than more unconventional palettes. For those seeking the authority of a Range Rover with more agility for city traffic, this Sport is the definitive choice.

This Car vs Other 2017 Range Rover Sports

With 130,000 km on the odometer, this vehicle sits within the expected range for a luxury SUV in the GCC, where annual averages typically reach 25,000 km. Unlike base models often used for heavy school runs or high-mileage commuting between emirates, this HSE Dynamic appears to have been treated as a primary executive vehicle. The black exterior is one of the most resilient colors for resale in the local market, making this a safer long-term investment than lighter or more niche colors.

DYNAMIC vs Lower Trims

The HSE Dynamic adds significant hardware and aesthetic upgrades over the standard SE and HSE trims, including a performance-tuned engine and red Brembo brake calipers. Inside, you benefit from upgraded Oxford perforated leather and a more advanced version of the Terrain Response system, which is essential for weekend trips to the dunes. It also features gloss black exterior accents and larger alloy wheels as standard, providing a much more aggressive presence on the road compared to lower-spec models.

Range Rover Sport vs Segment Rivals

The Range Rover Sport leads rivals like the BMW X5 and Porsche Cayenne by offering a genuine low-range transfer case and superior ground clearance for off-road versatility. While the X5 is focused on tarmac handling, the Sport offers a 105-litre fuel tank that is better suited for long-distance desert highway drives between Saudi Arabia and the UAE. Its cabin insulation is also specifically engineered to maintain cooling efficiency in the extreme 45°C+ summer heat of the Gulf.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the supercharged V6 averages around 10.5 L/100km, which is efficient for a full-sized luxury SUV in GCC stop-start traffic. As a GCC-spec vehicle, it benefits from a wide network of authorized Land Rover service centers across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, ensuring parts are always readily available. This model maintains a strong resale profile in the region, typically seeing a lower annual depreciation rate than its European competitors due to the high local demand for the brand.

Performance & Capability

The 3.0L supercharged V6 delivers a refined 340 hp, enabling a 0–100 km/h sprint in just 7.2 seconds—plenty of power for confident highway overtaking. The sophisticated Terrain Response 2 system automatically adjusts the air suspension and drivetrain to handle everything from loose sand to gravel tracks. With its permanent all-wheel-drive system and high-speed stability, it remains one of the most capable vehicles for crossing the diverse terrains of the Arabian Peninsula in total comfort.

Comfort & Cabin

The five-seat layout features premium leather and a powerful multi-zone climate control system designed specifically for the high-ambient temperatures of the Middle East. Rear passengers benefit from dedicated cooling vents and ample legroom, making it an ideal choice for families. The cabin is further enhanced by a high-resolution 10.2-inch touchscreen and a premium Meridian sound system, providing an isolated and luxurious environment even in heavy city traffic.

Safety

Standard safety features on this trim include a 360-degree camera system for easier parking in tight urban spaces and blind-spot monitoring for fast-moving highway traffic. It also features electronic traction control and roll stability control, which are vital for maintaining composure on uneven sand surfaces. The inclusion of multiple airbags and emergency brake assist ensures a 5-star safety environment for all five occupants.

The bottom line

This GCC-spec HSE Dynamic is the ideal opportunity for a buyer who wants Range Rover luxury with a sportier edge and a powertrain that balances performance with sensible running costs.
