Summary

This Nissan Patrol LE Platinum is a high-spec example of the UAE’s most beloved full-size SUV, offering the perfect balance of prestige and desert capability. Its white exterior is the most sought-after color for resale in the GCC, helping it maintain a higher value over time compared to darker alternatives. With the legendary 5.6L V8 under the hood, it delivers effortless highway overtaking and robust power for sand dunes. This specific 2017 model serves as an ideal choice for families who need eight seats and the reliability of a vast local parts network. For the GCC buyer, the Patrol remains a symbol of durability that handles extreme summer heat with one of the most powerful A/C systems in its class.

This Car vs Other 2017 Nissan Patrols

With 172,000 km, this vehicle sits within the typical mileage range for a GCC-spec Patrol, which often serves as a primary long-distance cruiser between emirates. The LE Platinum trim is significantly more desirable on the used market than the entry-level XE or SE trims due to its superior luxury features. The white exterior remains the strongest choice for local resale, offering better heat reflection and higher demand among regional buyers.

LE Platinum vs Lower Trims

The LE Platinum is the flagship of the range, adding essential luxury features that the SE and standard LE trims lack, such as a 13-speaker Bose premium audio system and a 360-degree Around View Monitor. It also features a rear-seat entertainment system with dual screens, which is a high-value addition for families in the GCC. Comfort is further elevated with premium leather upholstery and climate-controlled front seats, which are vital for maintaining comfort during the peak of the Arabian summer.

Nissan Patrol vs Segment Rivals

The Patrol leads its primary rival, the Toyota Land Cruiser, in on-road comfort and interior technology for this model year. Its 140-litre fuel tank is specifically engineered for long-haul desert drives and cross-border trips, providing a superior range compared to smaller SUVs. Additionally, the Patrol offers a wider cabin feel and more generous third-row legroom, making it the preferred choice for large families in the region.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 5.6L V8 averages between 16–18 L/100km in mixed GCC driving, reflecting its heavy-duty capability and the constant use of high-output air conditioning. Nissan enjoys one of the most comprehensive authorized service networks across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman, ensuring parts are always available and affordable. The Patrol traditionally holds about 80% of its value after three years, outperforming almost every other vehicle in the segment except the Land Cruiser.

Performance & Capability

The 5.6-litre V8 produces 400 horsepower and 560 Nm of torque, enabling a verified braked towing capacity of 3,500 kg for hauling boats or trailers. Its sophisticated All-Mode 4WD system includes selectable modes for sand, rock, and snow, ensuring it remains dominant in the deep dunes of the Liwa desert. Despite its size, the engine's linear power delivery makes it surprisingly agile for highway cruising and merging into fast-moving traffic on the E11.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the LE Platinum offers a massive eight-seat configuration with multi-zone climate control that features dedicated vents for all three rows to combat 45°C temperatures. The cabin is exceptionally well-insulated from external road and wind noise, providing a quiet environment for long drives between cities. Technical highlights include a cooled center console 'cool box' for keeping beverages chilled and a power-folding third row for quick transitions between passengers and cargo.

Safety

Standard safety equipment on this trim includes a full suite of six airbags and the Around View Monitor for easy parking of such a large vehicle. It features Intelligent Cruise Control and Distance Control Assist, which are highly effective for reducing driver fatigue on long desert highways. Additionally, the Blind Spot Warning and Lane Departure Warning systems provide essential protection when navigating the busy multi-lane roads of Dubai and Riyadh.

The bottom line

For the buyer seeking a reliable, high-spec family workhorse that holds its value, this GCC-spec LE Platinum is the definitive choice for regional life.
