• Naturally aspirated VK56VD V8 engine
• 140-litre fuel tank capacity

Summary

This Nissan Patrol is a definitive choice for GCC buyers seeking the prestige of a flagship V8 with proven reliability. With its black exterior maintaining high resale demand in the UAE market, this top-trim LE Platinum offers the full luxury experience without the steep depreciation of a newer model. The 400-horsepower engine delivers effortless power for both high-speed highway cruising between Emirates and weekend desert excursions. As a 9-year-old vehicle, its mileage reflects consistent but respectful use typical of a long-distance family flagship in this region. This model remains one of the most culturally significant and mechanically trusted SUVs across the Gulf.

This Car vs Other 2017 Nissan Patrols

With 156,000 km, this vehicle's mileage is average for a 9-year-old SUV in the GCC, where annual driving often exceeds 20,000 km due to highway commutes. The black exterior is one of the top three colors for value retention in the UAE, ensuring it remains highly liquid in the used market. Compared to high-mileage fleet examples, this LE Platinum shows the preservation expected of a privately owned family flagship.

LE PLATINUM vs Lower Trims

The LE Platinum trim sits at the top of the hierarchy, providing the potent 400-hp V8 rather than the 275-hp V6 found in SE models. It adds essential GCC luxury features including a 13-speaker Bose audio system, 360-degree cameras, and ventilated front seats that are vital during summer months. Buyers also benefit from the dual-screen rear entertainment system and 20-inch machine-cut alloy wheels, which are absent on base XE and LE T1 trims.

Nissan Patrol vs Segment Rivals

The Patrol leads rivals like the Toyota Land Cruiser and Chevrolet Tahoe in engine refinement and sheer highway presence. Its massive 140-litre fuel tank provides a significantly longer touring range for cross-border trips compared to the Tahoe. While the Land Cruiser is a formidable off-roader, the Patrol's independent suspension offers superior on-road comfort and stability during high-speed daily commutes on the E11.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 5.6L V8 in GCC stop-start traffic averages 16–18 L/100km, dropping toward 14 L/100km on open highways. The Patrol benefits from the most extensive authorized service network in the region, with parts readily available in every major city from Dubai to Riyadh. As an icon of the Gulf, it maintains a depreciation rate of approximately 8–10% annually, far outperforming European luxury SUV competitors.

Performance & Capability

The naturally aspirated V8 delivers 560 Nm of torque, enabling a 0–100 km/h time of approximately 7.5 seconds, which is impressive for a vehicle weighing over 2.7 tonnes. Its selectable All-Mode 4WD system includes dedicated Rock, Snow, and Sand modes specifically tuned for the varied terrain of the Arabian Peninsula. With a 3,500 kg braked towing capacity and 273 mm of ground clearance, it is as capable at the boat ramp as it is in the dunes of Liwa.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin accommodates 8 passengers in a premium leather environment, featuring a cooled center console 'cool box' that is a hallmark of GCC-spec Patrols. Three-zone climate control with dedicated ceiling-mounted vents ensures all three rows stay cool even when ambient temperatures exceed 45°C. Acoustic glass and thick insulation provide a quiet sanctuary from wind noise during long-distance drives across the desert.

Safety

This trim includes a comprehensive safety suite featuring Blind Spot Warning and Lane Departure Warning, which are essential for navigating fast-moving multi-lane highway traffic. The 360-degree Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection simplifies parking this large SUV in tight urban spaces. Standard electronic stability control and traction management provide crucial oversight when driving on unpredictable sand or gravel surfaces.

The bottom line

This is an ideal opportunity for a family or enthusiast wanting the prestige and V8 power of a top-spec Patrol at a stabilized price point. Its GCC-spec status and popular color profile make it a low-risk purchase with high utility for life in the Emirates.
