In 2017, Porsche introduced a mid-cycle refresh to its iconic 911 lineup, highlighting the stylish Targa model. This update features subtly revised styling and, most notably, a twin-turbo 3.0-liter flat-six engine. For the first time, the Targa 4 outpaces its rear-wheel-drive counterparts, thanks to its all-wheel-drive system.
The refreshed Targa offers new aesthetics, advanced technology, and the signature semi-convertible roof. The front bumper has received minor tweaks, with smoother front intakes and slimmer four-point daytime running lights. The distinctive open-top design is complemented by the silver Targa bar and wrap-around rear window. With the push of a button, the retractable soft-top roof folds neatly behind the seats, allowing you to enjoy the sun and sky.
Powering the Targa is Porsche's new 3.0-liter flat-six engine, delivering 370 horsepower and paired with the optional seven-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission. The Targa 4's impressive acceleration is attributed to its electro-hydraulically controlled all-wheel-drive system, borrowed from the Turbo, as well as its rear-axle steering. Additionally, the standard Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) system features new shock absorbers and lowers the ride height, striking a balance between comfort and performance.
Inside, the Targa boasts a modern 7-inch multi-touch touchscreen, a three-spoke multifunction steering wheel, and well-bolstered seats crafted from premium materials. The 911 incorporates elements from its more powerful and luxurious siblings, ensuring a high-quality driving experience.
