Summary

This seven-seater SUV presents a balanced opportunity for families in the GCC, offering premium amenities at a more accessible price point than many local-spec equivalents. The white exterior is a strategic choice for this region, as it effectively reflects heat and ensures the highest possible resale value in the pre-owned market. Despite being an American import, it features the robust 3.5-liter V6 engine known throughout the Middle East for its reliability and ability to handle long, high-speed highway stretches between emirates. The cabin provides an upscale environment that bridges the gap between mainstream family haulers and high-end luxury icons, making it an excellent choice for those who prioritize interior comfort without the steep maintenance of European brands. While it has covered significant distance, these powertrains are engineered for longevity, and this specific example offers features normally reserved for much more expensive SUVs. The combination of all-wheel-drive capability and a spacious three-row layout makes it one of the most practical daily drivers for a growing family in the UAE.

This Car vs Other 2018 QX60s

With approximately 110,000 kilometers on the odometer, this vehicle has been driven roughly 18,000 kilometers per year, which is well below the typical GCC average of 25,000 kilometers for a primary family SUV. This lower-than-average usage suggests the mechanical components have experienced less stress than many other 2018 models currently available in the regional market. The white paintwork is a significant advantage in the Middle East, as it keeps the cabin several degrees cooler during the summer months compared to darker alternatives. Being an American specification vehicle, it often includes a more comprehensive tech suite than standard export models, providing a feature-rich environment for the price. While regional buyers sometimes prefer GCC-spec, the massive availability of parts for this global platform in the UAE ensures that maintenance remains straightforward and affordable. This specific unit stands out as a well-preserved example that hasn't seen the heavy commercial or rental use common in this segment.

PREMIUM vs Lower Trims

Choosing this specific trim level upgrades the daily driving experience significantly through several high-value additions that GCC buyers actively seek out. The most notable upgrade is the inclusion of the Bose Cabin Surround sound system, which features 13 speakers strategically placed to provide crisp audio even at highway speeds. You also benefit from a heated steering wheel and memory seating systems for the driver, which are rare but appreciated luxuries when multiple family members share the vehicle. The exterior is enhanced with roof rails and a more sophisticated wheel design that gives the SUV a more commanding presence on the road. Inside, the trim introduces enhanced leather-appointed seating and indigenous maple interior accents that create a much more premium feel than the standard base models. Additionally, this trim includes remote engine start, a critical feature for the UAE climate as it allows you to cool the cabin to a comfortable temperature before ever stepping inside.

QX60 vs Segment Rivals

In the competitive world of three-row luxury crossovers, this model holds its own against stalwarts like the Acura MDX and the Lexus RX-L by offering a more usable third row. The innovative 'sliding and tilting' second-row seat allows passengers to access the back even when a child seat is installed, a feature many rivals lack. It also provides a smoother V6 power delivery compared to the turbocharged four-cylinder engines found in many European competitors like the Volvo XC90, which can feel strained under full passenger loads in the heat. The fuel tank capacity is generous, allowing for fewer stops on long-distance journeys across the GCC, a major win for families traveling between Dubai and Muscat or Riyadh. While some rivals focus purely on sportiness, this model prioritizes a quiet, isolated ride that is better suited for the high-speed, multi-lane highways typical of the region. It essentially offers the luxury of a Cadillac with the mechanical common sense and reliability of a Japanese brand.

Running Costs & Resale

The 3.5-liter V6 is a staple of the automotive world, meaning parts are widely available in every major city from Abu Dhabi to Kuwait City. Expect real-world fuel consumption to hover around 10 to 12 liters per 100km on the highway, though city driving in heavy Dubai traffic will naturally see that figure rise. Because this is an American spec car, buyers should ensure they use a reputable specialist for servicing, as there are many qualified independent workshops across the UAE that specialize in Infiniti and Nissan platforms. These vehicles typically see a depreciation rate of about 12% annually in the GCC, which is better than many German luxury SUVs but slightly faster than GCC-spec Japanese counterparts. Despite being an import, the sheer volume of these cars on our streets keeps the resale market liquid and predictable. Regular maintenance is affordable, with major service intervals usually falling every 10,000 kilometers, ensuring the vehicle remains reliable for years to come.

Performance & Capability

The 265-horsepower V6 engine provides a seamless surge of power that is particularly useful for merging onto fast-moving UAE highways like the E11 or E311. Coupled with a refined automatic transmission, the power delivery is linear and predictable, making it a very easy vehicle to pilot through urban environments. The Four-Wheel Drive system is predominantly front-biased for efficiency but can shift power to the rear wheels instantly when it detects slippery conditions or gravel paths. While it is not designed for heavy dune bashing in the Liwa desert, it is more than capable of handling weekend trips to wadis or sandy tracks leading to beach campsites. The ground clearance is higher than a standard sedan, providing a better vantage point in traffic and protection against occasional high curbs or speed bumps. It manages to balance a soft ride with enough stability to feel secure during high-speed cross-country drives, which is exactly what a luxury cruiser should do.

Comfort & Cabin

The interior is designed to be a sanctuary from the harsh GCC summer, featuring a high-output tri-zone climate control system that ensures even those in the third row stay cool. With seven seats, it provides ample room for large families, and the 'theater-style' seating means rear passengers sit slightly higher for a better view out of the large windows. The cabin insulation is excellent, effectively muting the wind noise and traffic sounds common on busy city roads. High-quality materials are used throughout, with soft-touch plastics and leather surfaces that are durable enough to withstand the wear and tear of family life. The moonroof adds a sense of airiness to the cabin, which is especially pleasant during the cooler months of the UAE winter. Ample USB ports and storage bins ensure that everyone’s devices remain charged and the cabin stays clutter-free during long road trips between emirates.

Safety

Safety is a hallmark of this model, having earned a 5-star rating from the NHTSA due to its robust construction and advanced protection systems. This trim includes Blind Spot Warning, which is an essential feature for the fast-paced, multi-lane driving environment of the GCC where lane changes require constant vigilance. Moving Object Detection and a 360-degree camera system make parking this large SUV in tight mall basements significantly easier and safer. The vehicle is also equipped with Forward Emergency Braking, a system that can detect potential collisions and apply the brakes automatically if the driver doesn't react in time. Electronic Stability Control and Traction Control come standard, providing much-needed composure if you encounter unexpected sand on the road or sudden rain showers. The curtain airbags extend to the third row, ensuring that every passenger, regardless of where they are sitting, is protected by the latest in passive safety technology.

The bottom line

This QX60 is the ideal choice for a savvy family buyer looking for premium Japanese engineering and three rows of luxury without the GCC-spec price premium. It represents a fantastic value-to-feature ratio and is ready for immediate daily use across the Emirates.
