Summary

This 2018 Range Rover Sport HSE represents a balanced choice in the GCC used market, offering the facelifted cabin tech and sharper exterior styling introduced for this model year. With 130,000 km, the mileage is slightly below average for an 8-year-old vehicle in a region where annual travel typically hits 20,000 km. The supercharged V6 provides a responsive 360 hp, making it more agile than the standard SE while maintaining better daily efficiency than the V8 alternatives. Finished in a bold red, this unit stands out in a market dominated by greyscale, appealing to enthusiasts looking for a distinctive presence. For a GCC buyer, the standard air suspension and advanced climate controls make it perfectly suited for both smooth Abu Dhabi highways and weekend desert escapes.

This Car vs Other 2018 Range Rover Sports

At 130,000 km, this vehicle has been driven roughly 16,000 km per year, which is significantly lower than the GCC average of 20,000–25,000 km for premium SUVs. While most listings in the UAE are silver or white, this red exterior adds a unique character that can sustain higher interest in the enthusiast market. Being a facelifted 2018 model, it features the superior Touch Pro Duo infotainment system not found on earlier versions of this generation.

HSE vs Lower Trims

The HSE trim is a substantial step up from the base SE, adding 20-inch alloy wheels and a fixed panoramic sunroof as standard. Inside, you benefit from upgraded perforated leather upholstery and 16-way power-adjustable heated front seats compared to the 14-way seats in lower trims. Crucially for the GCC, it includes 360-degree parking sensors and an 11-speaker Meridian sound system that provides superior acoustic clarity during long drives.

Range Rover Sport vs Segment Rivals

The Range Rover Sport leads rivals like the BMW X5 and Mercedes-Benz GLE when it comes to off-road geometry and wading depth, thanks to its adjustable air suspension. Its 104-litre fuel tank is one of the largest in its class, offering a significant range advantage for long-distance travel between Emirates or across borders. While German rivals focus on on-road stiffness, the Land Rover offers a more supple ride quality that handles the region's diverse terrain with greater composure.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 3.0L supercharged V6 typically averages around 10.5 L/100km, though this increases in stop-start city traffic in Dubai or Riyadh. As an American spec vehicle, it is essential to ensure a compatible service history, though parts are widely available through a massive network of independent specialists across the UAE and Saudi Arabia. This model year maintains stable demand in the local market, benefiting from the facelifted interior which helps it retain value better than pre-2018 units.

Performance & Capability

The 360 hp supercharged V6 engine delivers a smooth 0–100 km/h time of 7.2 seconds, providing ample power for high-speed highway overtaking. Land Rover’s Terrain Response system allows the driver to optimize the AWD system for sand, grass, or gravel at the turn of a dial. The adjustable air suspension can raise the vehicle for an impressive 278 mm of ground clearance, making it as capable on a weekend dune trip as it is refined at a valet stand.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is centered around the Touch Pro Duo system, featuring two 10-inch high-definition touchscreens that minimize physical buttons for a cleaner aesthetic. The HSE's upgraded perforated leather and dual-zone climate control are essential for staying comfortable during peak GCC summer temperatures. Thick acoustic glass and a high-set 'command' driving position ensure a quiet, fatigue-free environment for family road trips.

Safety

Standard safety tech on the HSE trim includes Blind Spot Monitoring and a Driver Condition Monitor, which are vital for safety on fast-moving multi-lane highways. It also features Lane Departure Warning and Traffic Sign Recognition to assist during long desert drives. The combination of a robust aluminum chassis and a comprehensive airbag suite provides a high level of occupant protection that meets global 5-star standards.

The bottom line

For the buyer seeking the prestige of a Range Rover with the updated dual-screen interior, this 2018 HSE offers the right balance of performance and lower-than-average mileage for its age.
