Summary

This Range Rover Sport HSE represents a balanced entry into Land Rover's performance SUV lineup, pairing the 360 hp supercharged V6 with the luxury of the HSE trim. At 8 years old with 138,000 km, the mileage is exactly in line with the GCC average of 15,000 to 20,000 km per year, suggesting consistent highway-heavy use rather than punishing city-only driving. The black-on-black color combination remains one of the most liquid configurations in the UAE resale market, ensuring strong interest when you eventually choose to upgrade. As a GCC spec vehicle, it benefits from a cooling system and air conditioning unit built to withstand peak summer temperatures above 45 degrees Celsius. This model bridge the gap between a daily commuter and a capable desert companion for weekend escapes.

This Car vs Other 2018 Range Rover Sports

With 138,000 km on the odometer, this vehicle has covered average distances for a GCC-based SUV of this vintage, where long-distance commutes between Emirates are standard. Black exterior paint is a high-demand choice in the local market, offering better value retention than more niche colors. Being a GCC spec model, it avoids the insurance and part-compatibility hurdles often found with North American imports.

HSE vs Lower Trims

The HSE trim provides a significant jump in luxury over the base SE, adding perforated Windsor leather upholstery and heated front seats as standard. It also includes the high-resolution 10-inch Touch Pro Duo dual-screen system and a premium Meridian sound system, features that are highly prized by second-hand buyers in the UAE. Most importantly for the region, the HSE typically includes the upgraded 20-inch alloy wheels and a rear-view camera suite that makes urban parking much simpler.

Range Rover Sport vs Segment Rivals

The Range Rover Sport stands apart from the BMW X5 and Porsche Cayenne by offering genuine off-road hardware like a selectable low-range transfer case and adjustable air suspension. While its rivals focus almost entirely on tarmac dynamics, the Sport provides 278 mm of ground clearance for navigating sand and gravel trails. Its upright driving position offers superior visibility in heavy multi-lane highway traffic compared to the more car-like seating of its German competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

The 3.0L supercharged V6 typically returns between 10.5 and 13.5 L/100km depending on your balance of city traffic and highway cruising. In the UAE, major service centers like Al Tayer and independent specialists in Al Quoz are widely available, with recommended service intervals of 13,000 km or 12 months. While European luxury SUVs face steeper depreciation than Japanese alternatives, the Range Rover Sport maintains a dedicated following in the GCC, with the HSE trim holding roughly 40-45% of its value after eight years.

Performance & Capability

Delivering 360 hp, this supercharged V6 provides effortless highway overtaking and a 0-100 km/h time of 6.9 seconds, which is impressive for a vehicle of this mass. The standard Electronic Air Suspension allows you to raise the vehicle for desert terrain or lower it for easier entry and better aerodynamics at high speeds. With a 3,500 kg towing capacity, it is also one of the most capable vehicles in its class for hauling boats or trailers across the Emirates.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a sanctuary of Windsor leather and soft-touch materials, featuring Land Rover's signature Command Driving Position for a clear view of the road. Dual-zone climate control is specifically engineered to pull down cabin temperatures quickly after the car has been parked in the sun. Acoustic laminated glass ensures the interior remains quiet even during high-speed desert highway runs, while the 780-liter boot provides ample space for family road trips.

Safety

Safety is comprehensive, featuring a suite of airbags, Electronic Traction Control, and Roll Stability Control to manage the vehicle's high center of gravity. Standard HSE features include Front and Rear Parking Aid and Lane Departure Warning, which are essential for navigating the fast-paced traffic on Sheikh Zayed Road. The All-Wheel Drive system works constantly to monitor grip, providing stability on both rain-slicked tarmac and loose gravel surfaces.

The bottom line

For the UAE buyer seeking the prestige of a Range Rover without the V8 fuel bill, this GCC-spec HSE offers a well-maintained, correctly-optioned balance of luxury and genuine capability.
