Summary

This 2018 Range Rover Sport HSE strikes a refined balance between high-end luxury and genuine capability, featuring a supercharged V6 that delivers linear power perfect for both city commuting and highway overtaking. With 100,000 km, the mileage is exactly average for an 8-year-old vehicle in the GCC, suggesting it has been used as a primary driver without excessive long-distance wear. The black-on-black color combination remains one of the most sought-after configurations in the UAE market, ensuring strong resale appeal. As an HSE trim, it offers the essential comfort upgrades like upgraded leather and a premium sound system that GCC buyers value most. For those seeking the Range Rover prestige with a more agile road presence, this remains a standout choice in the luxury SUV segment.

This Car vs Other 2018 Range Rover Sports

With 100,000 km on the odometer, this vehicle sits comfortably at the expected 12,500 km per year average for the UAE, which is lower than many highway-commuted examples that often exceed 150,000 km by this age. The black exterior is a primary value driver in the local market, consistently fetching higher trade-in prices compared to less common colors. As a European spec vehicle, it features the sleek aesthetics and high-grade interior materials typical of the region, though buyers should ensure all service history is documented for local maintenance compatibility.

HSE vs Lower Trims

The HSE trim provides a significant leap in refinement over the base SE, most notably adding front fog lights and power-folding, heated door mirrors with memory—essential for tight parking in Dubai or Riyadh. Inside, the cabin is upgraded with a Meridian Sound System and 16-way heated front seats, offering much better ergonomics for long drives across the Emirates. Furthermore, the HSE includes critical safety tech like a 360-degree parking aid and Blind Spot Monitor as standard, which are often expensive options on lower tiers.

Range Rover Sport vs Segment Rivals

The Range Rover Sport leads rivals like the BMW X5 and Mercedes-Benz GLE when it comes to off-road versatility, featuring a sophisticated air suspension system and class-leading wading depth for sudden rainy seasons. Its 105-litre fuel tank provides a superior cruising range compared to many German competitors, making it a better companion for cross-border trips between the UAE and Oman or Saudi Arabia. While rivals focus almost entirely on road manners, the Sport maintains a commanding driving position that offers better visibility in heavy multi-lane highway traffic.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 3.0L supercharged V6 averages around 10.8 L/100km, which is competitive for a heavy luxury SUV during long-distance cruising. In the GCC, Land Rover maintains a massive service network with authorized centers in every major city, ensuring specialized parts are readily available. While European luxury brands generally see a depreciation of 12-18% annually in the local market, the Sport's iconic design helps it retain value better than more niche luxury crossovers.

Performance & Capability

The supercharged V6 engine produces 340 hp, allowing this 2.2-tonne SUV to reach 100 km/h in just 7.2 seconds, ensuring plenty of power for merging onto fast-moving motorways. The Terrain Response 2 system allows the driver to select specific modes for sand, grass, or gravel, making it surprisingly capable for weekend trips to the dunes or soft-sand beaches. An 8-speed ZF automatic transmission provides seamless shifts, maintaining a quiet cabin environment even at high cruising speeds.

Comfort & Cabin

The interior is centered around the Touch Pro Duo system, featuring twin 10-inch touchscreens that manage everything from navigation to the powerful air conditioning system designed to handle 45°C summers. Perforated leather seats and a panoramic glass roof create an airy, premium atmosphere for all five passengers, while acoustic glass helps isolate the cabin from wind noise on the highway. Dedicated rear climate vents ensure the back row stays cool during the hottest months, a vital feature for family use in the region.

Safety

Standard safety features on the HSE trim include a comprehensive ADAS suite with Lane Departure Warning, Autonomous Emergency Braking, and a Rear Traffic Monitor. For high-speed GCC highways, the Blind Spot Monitor and Driver Condition Monitor provide an extra layer of security, while the 360-degree parking camera makes navigating narrow city streets effortless. The vehicle is also equipped with a full array of airbags and Electronic Traction Control to maintain stability on varied terrain.

The bottom line

This Range Rover Sport HSE is the ideal match for a buyer who wants a prestigious daily driver that doesn't compromise on weekend capability. With average mileage and the most desirable color spec, it represents a stable and high-value entry into the luxury SUV market.
