Summary

This 2018 Range Rover Sport SVR is a standout choice in the GCC market, combining high-performance engineering with the region's preferred black-on-black aesthetic. As the flagship of the Special Vehicle Operations division, it offers a significant power advantage over standard V8 models, making it a favorite for those who value highway presence and rapid overtaking. Its GCC specification ensures the cooling systems are optimized for local summer extremes, a critical factor for long-term reliability in the UAE and wider region. With its aggressive styling and track-tuned chassis, this model bridges the gap between a focused sports car and a versatile family SUV.

This Car vs Other 2018 Range Rover Sports

With 139,304 km on the odometer, this vehicle has been driven approximately 23,000 km per year, which aligns perfectly with the GCC annual average of 20,000–25,000 km. The black exterior is the most sought-after color for high-performance SUVs in the local market, ensuring it retains a liquidity advantage at resale. While standard models often show wear at this mileage, SVR builds utilize more robust interior materials designed to handle the increased performance and frequent use.

SVR vs Lower Trims

The SVR is a substantial leap over the Autobiography Dynamic, featuring a re-tuned 5.0L supercharged V8 and an active exhaust system that provides a distinct, aggressive soundtrack. Inside, it adds lightweight SVR performance seats in Windsor leather, which offer superior lateral support compared to the standard comfort-oriented seating. The suspension and steering are also uniquely tuned by Special Vehicle Operations for flatter cornering during high-speed highway drives.

Range Rover Sport vs Segment Rivals

When compared to rivals like the Porsche Cayenne Turbo or the BMW X5 M, the Range Rover Sport SVR leads in off-road versatility with its Terrain Response 2 system and 850 mm wading depth. While competitors are strictly road-biased, the SVR maintains genuine capability for desert weekend trips while matching them for straight-line speed. It also features a larger fuel tank than many European rivals, making it better suited for long-distance travel between emirates.

Running Costs & Resale

Typical fuel consumption for the supercharged V8 averages 15L/100km in mixed GCC conditions, though city driving in stop-start traffic will see this rise. As a GCC-spec vehicle, it is supported by the extensive Al Tayer and Premier Motors service network in the UAE, with similar authorized coverage across Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. The SVR trim historically holds its value better than mid-range luxury trims due to its rarity and status as the range-topping performance icon.

Performance & Capability

The heart of this SUV is its 5.0L supercharged V8, delivering 575 hp and 700 Nm of torque to all four wheels for a blistering 0-100 km/h time of 4.5 seconds. The upgraded Brembo braking system provides consistent stopping power, essential for the fast-moving multi-lane highways of the UAE. Despite its track-focused credentials, it remains a capable off-roader with a selectable low-range transfer case and adjustable air suspension for clearing rugged terrain.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a blend of carbon fiber trim and premium leather, featuring 16-way powered performance seats that are both heated and cooled to combat the GCC summer. A dedicated rear climate zone ensures passengers stay comfortable, while the Meridian Surround Sound system provides high-fidelity audio during long desert drives. The Touch Pro Duo infotainment system integrates seamlessly, offering dual-screen control for navigation and vehicle settings.

Safety

Standard safety equipment on the SVR includes a comprehensive suite of driver aids such as Blind Spot Monitoring and Lane Keep Assist, which are highly effective for fast-paced highway commuting. The 360-degree camera system makes parking this large SUV effortless in tight urban spaces, while Adaptive Cruise Control reduces fatigue on long cross-country journeys. Advanced traction and stability control systems are specifically tuned to manage the V8's high output on both asphalt and loose surfaces.

The bottom line

For the UAE buyer who demands supercar performance without sacrificing the prestige and capability of a Range Rover, this black GCC-spec SVR is the ultimate daily-driver opportunity.
