Summary

This 2018 Nissan Patrol SE Platinum City occupies the sweet spot of the Y62 generation, offering the prestige of the Platinum trim with the more efficient 4.0L V6 powertrain. Its black exterior remains one of the most sought-after and resilient resale colors in the GCC, ensuring long-term value for its next owner. As a 8-year-old vehicle, its mileage is consistent with typical GCC highway use, where these robust V6 engines are known for their longevity and ease of maintenance. The Patrol stands as a cultural icon in the region, providing a level of road presence and interior space that rivals struggle to match. For a buyer seeking the ultimate family workhorse that handles both the school run and weekend escapes with equal poise, this listing represents a highly logical entry into the luxury SUV segment.

This Car vs Other 2018 Nissan Patrols

With a mileage of 206,000 km over 8 years, this Patrol has averaged roughly 25,750 km per year, which aligns perfectly with typical GCC annual usage patterns driven by long-distance highway commutes. The SE Platinum City trim is a significant step up from the base XE and standard SE models, providing a luxury-first interior that holds its value much better in the secondary market. The black finish is a Tier-1 resale color in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, making this specific unit easier to trade or sell in the future compared to less traditional shades.

SE PLATINUM CITY vs Lower Trims

The SE Platinum City adds essential luxury and tech features that the standard SE and Titanium trims lack, most notably the quilted leather upholstery and ventilated front seats—a critical comfort feature for the GCC summer. It further distinguishes itself with larger 20-inch machine-cut alloy wheels and a 360-degree Intelligent Around View Monitor, which makes parking this large SUV considerably easier. Buyers also benefit from the 'City Bumper' design, providing a more modern, sophisticated aesthetic for urban environments.

Nissan Patrol vs Segment Rivals

Against the Toyota Land Cruiser 4.0L and the Mitsubishi Pajero 3.8L, the Patrol leads with superior cabin volume and a massive 140-litre fuel tank that is purpose-built for long cross-border drives. Its independent rear suspension provides a smoother on-road ride than the more utilitarian Land Cruiser, making it the preferred choice for family-focused GCC buyers. The 7-speed automatic transmission also offers tighter gearing than rivals, providing better responsiveness in fast-moving Dubai or Riyadh traffic.

Running Costs & Resale

The 4.0L V6 engine delivers a real-world combined fuel consumption of approximately 14.5 to 15.0 L/100km, offering a slight efficiency advantage over the larger V8 for city-heavy driving. Maintenance is exceptionally straightforward across the GCC, with Nissan's authorized service network being one of the most extensive in the region, ensuring parts are affordable and readily available. Historically, the Platinum City trim retains roughly 60-65% of its value over a three-year period in the local market, benefiting from the Patrol's status as a regional staple.

Performance & Capability

Generating 275 hp and 394 Nm of torque, the V6 powertrain is optimized for smooth, unstressed cruising on the UAE's multi-lane highways. The All-Wheel Drive system is paired with a terrain-select controller, allowing the driver to switch between Sand, On-Road, and Rock modes for weekend desert excursions. With a generous ground clearance and a dedicated low-range transfer case, this SUV remains highly capable of reaching remote camping spots that would stop most modern crossovers.

Comfort & Cabin

The eight-seat configuration is designed for maximum family utility, featuring a power-folding third row and dedicated rear climate control vents to keep every passenger cool in 45°C+ heat. The Platinum City cabin is insulated with acoustic glass, significantly reducing road noise during long-distance trips between emirates. Premium wood-grain accents and the Bose audio system create an executive atmosphere that elevates the daily driving experience.

Safety

This trim is equipped with a comprehensive safety suite including six airbags, Intelligent Forward Collision Warning, and Blind Spot Warning, which is vital for the region's high-speed highway networks. The inclusion of the 360-degree camera system and front/rear parking sensors provides full visibility when maneuvering in tight urban spaces. Electronic Stability Control and Hill Descent Control ensure the vehicle remains composed on both loose sand and wet asphalt.

The bottom line

This Patrol is the ideal choice for a GCC family that prioritizes the luxury and prestige of a top-tier trim without the higher running costs of the V8 engine. It offers a proven track record of reliability and a specification that will remain in high demand for years to come.
