Summary

This 2018 Nissan Patrol LE Platinum represents the high-water mark for the Y62 generation, pairing a formidable V8 with a silver exterior that remains one of the strongest resale colors in the GCC market. With a mileage of 140,600 km, this vehicle sits comfortably as a primary family cruiser, common for high-spec SUVs in a region where long highway journeys are the standard. As the top-tier Platinum trim, it offers a level of cabin refinement and technology that rivals European luxury SUVs while maintaining the rugged body-on-frame durability the model is famous for. It stands out in the pre-owned market for its balance of executive road presence and genuine off-road capability. For any buyer in the UAE or across the GCC, this remains one of the most reliable and socially prestigious vehicles to own and maintain.

This Car vs Other 2018 Patrols

At 140,600 km, this Patrol's mileage is average for an eight-year-old vehicle in the GCC, where annual use typically ranges between 20,000 and 25,000 km due to inter-city travel. While many 2018 models in the market have been used heavily for desert excursions, this example’s silver finish and high trim suggest a life primarily spent on tarmac. The silver exterior is a strategic choice for the local market, offering excellent heat reflection and superior resale value compared to niche colors.

LE PLATINUM vs Lower Trims

The LE Platinum is the definitive luxury specification, adding essential GCC features that the SE and Titanium trims lack, such as ventilated front seats and a 13-speaker Bose premium audio system. It also includes a 360-degree Around View Monitor and a rear-seat entertainment system with dual screens, which are highly prized by family buyers in the region. Unlike the base V6 models, this trim features the full-output V8 and Hydraulic Body Motion Control for superior stability on high-speed highways.

Patrol vs Segment Rivals

When compared to the Toyota Land Cruiser VXR, the Patrol LE Platinum offers a more modern interior and a smoother on-road ride thanks to its independent rear suspension. It leads the Chevrolet Tahoe in genuine desert capability, featuring a sophisticated low-range transfer case and locking differentials as standard. The 140-litre fuel tank is a significant advantage for long-distance desert crossings or non-stop drives between Dubai and Riyadh.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 5.6L V8 typically averages between 14.5 and 17 L/100km in mixed GCC driving, though heavy air conditioning use in summer traffic can increase this. Nissan's authorized service network is one of the most extensive in the Middle East, with centers easily accessible from Kuwait to Oman. This model traditionally sees a depreciation rate of approximately 8–10% annually, which is significantly better than its American or European luxury competitors.

Performance & Capability

The 400 hp V8 engine delivers linear power that makes highway overtaking effortless even when fully loaded with eight passengers. Its body-on-frame construction and 273 mm of ground clearance ensure it can handle everything from the dunes of Liwa to rugged wadi tracks. With a 7-speed automatic transmission and selectable drive modes, the Patrol balances long-distance cruising comfort with the hardware required for serious off-road weekends.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for the extreme Middle Eastern climate, featuring a powerful triple-zone climate control system with dedicated rear vents that can cool the large interior rapidly. The eight-seat configuration is highly versatile, with a cooled center console box that serves as a factory refrigerator for drinks on long summer drives. Premium leather upholstery and extensive acoustic glass ensure the cabin remains a quiet sanctuary even at high cruising speeds.

Safety

This Platinum trim comes equipped with a comprehensive safety suite designed for fast-moving GCC highway traffic, including Intelligent Cruise Control and Forward Collision Warning. Standard features like Blind Spot Intervention and Lane Departure Warning provide essential assistance on multi-lane roads like the E11. The 360-degree camera system is particularly useful for maneuvering this large SUV in tight urban parking environments in Dubai or Abu Dhabi.

The bottom line

This is the ideal choice for a family buyer who demands the prestige and performance of a V8 Patrol without the steep depreciation of a brand-new model. It offers the perfect mix of local serviceability and top-tier luxury features, making it a secure investment in the GCC used market.
