Summary

This 2019 Ford Expedition XLT is a prime example of a full-size family workhorse, showing mileage well below the GCC expected average for its 7 years on the road. The Green exterior offers a distinctive look in a sea of white and silver, while the GCC regional specification ensures the heavy-duty cooling systems are built to handle the region's extreme summer temperatures. As a body-on-frame SUV with four-wheel drive, it bridges the gap between a daily school-run vehicle and a capable weekend desert tourer. The XLT trim delivers a high-value entry into the Expedition range, offering the same core engine performance and safety standards as the flagship models at a more accessible entry point for families.

This Car vs Other 2019 Expeditions

At 71,479 km, this vehicle has covered significantly fewer kilometers than the typical 140,000 to 175,000 km range expected for a 7-year-old SUV in the GCC. The GCC specification provides the necessary high-capacity radiator and tropicalized air conditioning that American-spec imports often lack. While Green is a unique choice, it retains its value well when paired with the high-demand 4WD configuration and lower-than-average mileage.

XLT vs Lower Trims

The XLT trim is the standard-bearer for the Expedition range in the GCC, adding the essential third-row PowerFold seats that are not always standard on fleet-focused base models. It also upgrades the cabin with the SYNC infotainment system, featuring a larger touchscreen and enhanced voice recognition. GCC buyers will appreciate the addition of rear parking sensors and a rearview camera, which are vital for maneuvering a vehicle of this footprint in tight urban spaces.

Expedition vs Segment Rivals

The Expedition leads rivals like the Chevrolet Tahoe and Nissan Patrol in towing capacity, offering a maximum of 4,173 kg when properly equipped, making it the preferred choice for boat owners in the UAE. Its 3.5L EcoBoost engine provides superior low-end torque compared to the naturally aspirated V8s in competitors, aiding in highway overtaking and sand driving. Furthermore, the Expedition is widely recognized for having the most spacious third-row legroom in the full-size SUV segment.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for this 3.5L V6 typically averages around 12.5 L/100km, which is efficient for a vehicle of this mass. Service intervals are conveniently spaced at 10,000 km or 6 months, with an extensive network of authorized service centers across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and the wider GCC ensuring easy parts availability. The Expedition maintains a stable depreciation curve, typically retaining approximately 55-60% of its value after five years in the local market.

Performance & Capability

With a 3.5L twin-turbocharged V6 producing 300 horsepower and massive torque, this SUV manages a 0-100 km/h sprint in roughly 6.6 seconds. The Four Wheel Drive system features selectable modes that optimize traction for both highway cruising between emirates and soft sand excursions during the winter months. Its body-on-frame construction provides the durability required for long-distance desert road trips and heavy-duty towing applications across the region.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is configured for seven passengers, featuring a spacious layout with dedicated rear climate control vents to keep all three rows cool during the peak of summer. Acoustic glass comes standard to isolate the interior from road and wind noise during high-speed highway travel. The SYNC system supports seamless mobile integration, and the multiple USB charging ports throughout the cabin ensure family devices remain powered on long cross-border drives.

Safety

Standard safety equipment on this XLT includes a comprehensive airbag system with side-impact and safety canopy protection for all three rows. Active safety is supported by ABS with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution and traction control, which are essential for maintaining stability on varied GCC road surfaces. The inclusion of Hill Start Assist and Hill Descent Control provides additional confidence when navigating steeper dunes or mountainous terrain in the northern emirates.

The bottom line

For the GCC buyer seeking a low-mileage, regional-spec SUV that refuses to sacrifice towing power or family comfort, this 4WD Expedition is a standout choice. It offers the perfect balance of American utility and local mechanical reliability at a significant saving compared to newer models.
