Summary

This GCC-spec Range Rover Velar S offers an ideal entry into the luxury SUV segment, finished in Santorini Black, which remains the most sought-after resale color in the regional market. With 250 horsepower from its turbocharged engine, it balances brisk highway performance with better fuel efficiency than the larger V6 variants. The S trim provides a significant upgrade in cabin materials and technology over the base model, making it a highly competitive choice for urban commuting in Dubai or Riyadh. As a GCC-spec vehicle, it features the uprated cooling systems essential for maintaining performance during peak summer temperatures. This listing represents a well-maintained example of a model known for having the most progressive interior design in its class.

This Car vs Other 2019 Range Rover Velars

With 132,380 km, this vehicle has been driven slightly above the typical GCC annual average of 25,000 km, suggesting regular highway use which is often better for the Ingenium engine than short city bursts. Its Santorini Black exterior is a major advantage for resale value in the UAE, as it is one of the three most preferred colors in the local used market. Being a GCC-spec model, it avoids the insurance and warranty complications often found with North American imports.

S vs Lower Trims

The S trim is a vital step up from the base Velar, replacing the standard 8-speaker setup with a premium 11-speaker Meridian sound system and upgrading simulated upholstery to genuine grained leather. It also adds highly practical features for the region, including power-reclining rear seats for passenger comfort and a hands-free power tailgate. Additionally, the S trim includes navigation and traffic sign recognition as standard, which were optional extras on the base model.

Range Rover Velar vs Segment Rivals

The Velar leads rivals like the Porsche Macan and BMW X4 in cargo flexibility, offering 558 litres of boot space even with the seats up. Its Terrain Response system provides genuine light off-road capability for gravel and sand tracks that road-focused German competitors often lack. While rivals focus on traditional dials, the Velar’s dual 10-inch Touch Pro Duo screens offer a more futuristic and uncluttered cabin environment.

Running Costs & Resale

The 2.0L turbocharged engine delivers a combined fuel consumption of approximately 7.6 L/100km, though GCC city traffic will see this rise toward 10.4 L/100km. Service intervals are typically every 16,000 km or 12 months, with an extensive network of authorized service centers available across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait. While European luxury SUVs depreciate faster than Japanese alternatives, the Velar S retains its value better than the base trim due to its higher demand in the secondary market.

Performance & Capability

With a verified 0-100 km/h time of 6.7 seconds and a top speed of 217 km/h, the Velar S offers confident overtaking power on fast-moving UAE highways. The All-Wheel Drive system works in tandem with Terrain Response to manage traction on slippery surfaces or loose sand during weekend escapes. Despite its sleek, road-biased appearance, it maintains a respectable 213 mm ground clearance for handling uneven terrain and speed bumps with ease.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for five occupants and features high-quality leather upholstery that stays cooler than synthetic alternatives in the desert heat. Dual-zone climate control is supplemented by rear vents, ensuring all passengers remain comfortable during the summer months. Acoustic glass helps isolate the cabin from road noise, creating a refined environment for long-distance drives between emirates.

Safety

This Velar S comes equipped with a 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating and includes essential ADAS features like Lane Departure Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking. For GCC highway driving, the standard front and rear parking sensors combined with a rear-view camera make navigating tight urban parking spaces effortless. It also features a comprehensive airbag suite and stability control systems specifically tuned for various road textures.

The bottom line

For the buyer seeking a design-forward SUV that doesn't compromise on GCC-essential features, this Velar S is a sharp, market-ready choice in the region's best-selling color.
