Toyota Prado TX-L

Highlights

• 87-litre fuel tank capacity
• 215 mm ground clearance
• Extensive GCC authorised service network

Summary

This Toyota Prado TX-L offers a rare combination of the 2.8L turbo-diesel engine and exceptionally low mileage, making it a standout choice for long-term ownership. Grey is a highly practical and stable resale color in the GCC, effectively masking desert dust while maintaining a professional appearance. As a TX-L trim, it bridges the gap between a rugged workhorse and a comfortable family cruiser, offering key interior upgrades without excessive complexity. Its diesel powertrain is particularly valued in the region for long-distance cruising across borders, providing superior range compared to its petrol counterparts. For any buyer in the UAE or wider GCC, the peace of mind offered by Toyota's unmatched parts availability and reliability remains the strongest argument for this vehicle.

This Car vs Other 2019 Prados

With only 27,500 km on the odometer, this Prado has been driven significantly less than the typical GCC average of 20,000–25,000 km per year. Most 2019 models on the market today have exceeded the 100,000 km mark, making this an excellent opportunity for a buyer seeking a near-new mechanical condition. The grey exterior is a neutral, high-demand choice that supports strong value retention in the local used market.

TX-L vs Lower Trims

The TX-L trim upgrades the ownership experience over the base TX by adding premium touches like a cooled center console fridge, essential for the GCC summer. It also replaces the standard fabric with more durable upholstery and adds a leather-trimmed steering wheel and gear knob. You also benefit from improved exterior styling including fog lamps and alloy wheels, which are often absent on entry-level versions.

Prado vs Segment Rivals

The Prado leads rivals like the Mitsubishi Pajero and Ford Everest in terms of regional service support and the sheer density of the Toyota network across the UAE and Saudi Arabia. While rivals may offer more tech, the Prado’s body-on-frame construction and 87-litre fuel tank make it far better suited for cross-border travel and weekend desert excursions. Its diesel engine offers a specific torque advantage for highway overtaking that petrol competitors in this size class often lack.

Running Costs & Resale

Toyota Prados are famous for having some of the lowest depreciation rates in the Middle East, often retaining up to 80% of their value after three years. The 2.8L diesel engine is highly efficient, returning approximately 8.0L/100km on combined cycles, which is a major saving over the 4.0L V6 petrol variants during long commutes between emirates. Authorized service centers are plentiful in every major GCC city, with standard minor service intervals every 10,000 km or 6 months.

Performance & Capability

Equipped with a selectable 4WD system and 215 mm of ground clearance, this Prado is a genuine off-road tool capable of navigating both soft sand and rocky wadis. The 171 hp turbo-diesel engine produces substantial low-end torque, which is ideal for towing or moving seven passengers with ease. The automatic transmission is tuned for durability and smooth power delivery, ensuring comfortable highway speeds on the E11 or E311 without stressing the powertrain.

Comfort & Cabin

The seven-seat configuration is highly flexible, allowing for a flat-folding third row to maximize cargo space for camping gear or family shopping. A powerful climate control system with dedicated rear vents ensures all three rows stay cool during peak summer temperatures. The cabin is well-insulated from exterior noise, providing a refined environment for daily school runs or long-distance executive travel.

Safety

Safety is managed by a suite of SRS airbags and essential electronic aids including Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and Traction Control (TRC). The Prado features a robust braking system with ABS and Electronic Brake-force Distribution, providing consistent stopping power even when the vehicle is fully loaded. These systems are specifically calibrated to handle the varying grip levels found on gravel tracks and sand-swept desert roads.

The bottom line

This is a rare opportunity to own a low-mileage diesel Prado that is perfectly spec'd for a buyer who prioritizes fuel range and legendary Toyota reliability. It is the ideal choice for a family or adventurer looking for a vehicle that will hold its value better than almost anything else on the road today.
