Summary

This 2019 Toyota Prado EXR strikes a perfect balance between family logistics and legendary durability, making it one of the most practical buys in the GCC used market. With mileage that reflects typical regional highway use rather than harsh off-road wear, it offers a reliable alternative to newer but more complex crossovers. The silver exterior is a top-tier choice for the local climate, known for both heat reflection and superior resale liquidity. Whether you are navigating daily school runs or planning cross-border highway trips, the Prado remains the definitive benchmark for peace of mind in the region. Its robust 2.7L engine is specifically engineered for longevity, supported by a parts and service network that spans every major city in the Emirates.

This Car vs Other 2019 Prados

At approximately 101,000 km, this Prado has averaged just over 20,000 km per year, which is considered low-to-average for a family SUV in the GCC. Silver remains one of the most sought-after colors in the UAE and Saudi markets, significantly aiding future resale value compared to niche colors. While many 2019 examples have been used for heavy desert duty, this unit's condition and spec suggest a life primarily on the region's well-maintained highway network.

EXR vs Lower Trims

The EXR serves as the essential gateway to the Prado range, providing the core 4x4 hardware required for the region without the added weight of non-essential luxury electronics. It includes full-time 4WD and a center differential lock as standard, features often missing from road-biased crossovers in this price bracket. You also benefit from a built-in cool box in the center console, a GCC-essential feature that keeps beverages chilled during peak summer months.

Prado vs Segment Rivals

The Prado consistently leads rivals like the Mitsubishi Pajero and Ford Explorer in terms of long-term mechanical simplicity and resale stability. Its body-on-frame construction provides a level of durability on gravel and sand that monocoque competitors cannot match. Furthermore, the 87-litre fuel tank offers a superior highway range, reducing the frequency of stops during long desert drives between Abu Dhabi and Muscat.

Running Costs & Resale

The 2.7L 2TR-FE engine is famous for its low maintenance requirements and compatibility with local fuel grades. Real-world fuel consumption typically ranges between 11.5 and 13.0 L/100km, depending on your mix of stop-start city traffic and highway cruising. Service intervals are recommended every 10,000 km, and with Al Futtaim's extensive presence, parts are always readily available. The Prado enjoys some of the lowest depreciation rates in the UAE, typically retaining 65-75% of its value after five years.

Performance & Capability

The 160 hp output is delivered via a 6-speed automatic transmission designed for smooth, consistent power delivery rather than aggressive sprints. With 215 mm of ground clearance and a selectable differential lock, it is fully capable of handling weekend trips to the dunes or navigating rocky wadis. The all-wheel-drive system provides excellent stability during the region's occasional heavy rain and sandstorms, ensuring a planted feel on the E11 and other major highways.

Comfort & Cabin

This 7-seater configuration features a flexible cabin layout with a sliding second row to maximize legroom for growing families. The air conditioning system is widely regarded as one of the best in the segment, featuring dedicated rear vents to ensure all seven passengers remain cool in 45°C+ temperatures. Cabin insulation is tuned to filter out high-speed wind noise, making long-distance commutes between emirates significantly more relaxing.

Safety

Standard safety equipment on this EXR includes dual front airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), and Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD). It also features Active Traction Control (A-TRC) and Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), which are critical for maintaining grip on sandy surfaces and during high-speed highway maneuvers. The inclusion of rear parking sensors helps navigate the tight parking spaces commonly found in Dubai and Abu Dhabi malls.

The bottom line

This Prado is the ideal choice for a pragmatic GCC buyer who prioritizes mechanical reliability and high resale liquidity over unnecessary tech. It is a proven workhorse ready for another decade of service across the region's unique driving conditions.
