As driving environments go, it’s as good as they come. Once you’re rolling, the responses are every bit as engaging, precise and instant as you dared hoped, dreamt, or remembered they would be. The ride is hard enough for the track and still good for those long invigorating weekend drives.
Body control is exquisite with a turn-in that is sharp and precise. Feedback is superb too, and probably telling you that there’s the merest hint of understeer, which can be quelled easily by braking or applying power. The closest you can get to a single seater experience that’s road legal and incredible value for money when you consider it to have a power to weight ratio more than a BMW M3 or M4.
The engine fires with a pleasing brap and throttle response is deliciously crisp. There’s no substitute for a small-capacity naturally aspirated engine on throttle bodies mated to a short shift manual gearbox. The five-speed gearbox is lovely, very direct and pleasing to use with nice close ratios suited to the high revving power band.
