Broadly, this 2020 BMW 8 Series replaces the 6 Series. But it gets a new number because it's even greater! Coming with added features such as M-Sport Package, M Sport differential, M-Sport leather steering wheel, Aerodynamics package, M-Sport seat belts, Soft-Close-Automatic doors, Apple CarPlay, Harman/Kardon surround sound system, Panoramic sunroof & cooled/heated front seats to finish this high option off.
Outside, the 8 Series wears the stentorian new face of BMW, more angular and big-grilled than ever. The sides are sculpted and chiseled and the rear shoulders broad. Underneath, BMW has thrown its best tech at it, we find the famous 3.0-litre BMW straight six turbocharged engine producing 335BHP & 500Nm of torque. The wheels are rear driven and steered as standard, and the damping is adaptive. For good measure all four of those systems alter their thresholds in harmony as you switch to the sport modes. The body contains carbon fiber as well as aluminum and steel. The brakes are plenty powerful for quick road driving. Like the suspension they feel natural despite a lot of tech behind the scenes – they're effectively a by-wire system.
Mostly, this stuff of course works vastly better than what's in the high-zoot independent brands like Aston Martin or McLaren, or the non-independent Lexus for that matter. The iDrive screen is further developed, and has more display resolution, is more connected, and is more responsive than ever. The dash and doors are swathed in beautifully stitched leather. The climatized cooled front seats are a good place to be, poly-adjustable and supportive.
