Summary

This 2020 Dodge Durango GT is a compelling find in the GCC market, offering the muscular presence of a full-size SUV with the relative efficiency of the Pentastar V6 engine. With the Vehicle Age at 6 years and 86,668 km on the clock, it has averaged roughly 14,400 km per year, which is significantly lower than the 20,000 km+ average typical for the region. The GT trim is the sweet spot for UAE buyers, adding the aggressive R/T-inspired bodywork and 20-inch wheels without the higher running costs of the V8. Finished in Silver, it carries one of the most resilient resale colors for the Dubai and wider GCC used market. For families who need a genuine seven-seater that doesn't feel like a typical minivan, the Durango remains the most characterful choice in its segment.

This Car vs Other 2020 Dodge Durangos

At 86,668 km, this Durango sits well below the expected mileage for a car of this age in the GCC, where long-distance commuting between Emirates often pushes 6-year-old SUVs past the 120,000 km mark. The silver exterior is a strategic choice for the local climate, as it reflects heat better than darker tones and maintains a higher resale demand. Being a GCC-spec vehicle, it avoids the insurance and service complications often associated with North American imports.

GT vs Lower Trims

The GT trim offers a significant visual and functional step up from the base SXT, most notably adopting the performance-style front fascia, hood, and 20-inch alloy wheels usually reserved for the V8 models. Inside, it adds essential GCC conveniences like remote engine start for pre-cooling the cabin and a power liftgate for easier grocery runs. It also upgrades the interior with Fold & Tumble second-row seats, providing much easier access to the third row for family use.

Durango vs Segment Rivals

While rivals like the Ford Explorer and Honda Pilot offer more car-like driving dynamics, the Durango leads the segment in towing capability with a verified 2,812 kg capacity, making it the superior choice for hauling jet skis or small trailers. Its rear-wheel-drive biased platform provides a more planted feel on high-speed UAE motorways compared to its front-wheel-drive competitors. Additionally, the Uconnect infotainment system remains one of the most intuitive and responsive interfaces available in this class.

Running Costs & Resale

The 3.6-litre V6 is remarkably reliable in high-temperature conditions and runs efficiently on 95-octane 'Special' fuel available at all ENOC and ADNOC stations. You can expect real-world consumption of approximately 10.5 L/100km on long highway stretches, though this will increase in stop-start Dubai traffic. Service centers are widespread across the UAE (Al Futtaim) and Saudi Arabia, ensuring parts availability and consistent resale value, which typically holds better than European equivalents in this segment.

Performance & Capability

The award-winning Pentastar V6 produces 295 hp and 353 Nm of torque, paired with a smooth 8-speed automatic that excels at highway overtaking. While this is a road-biased SUV, its robust suspension and 20-inch wheels handle gravel tracks and hard-packed sand common near weekend beach spots with ease. It delivers a 0-100 km/h time of approximately 7.8 seconds, providing enough punch for confident merging onto fast-moving arterial roads.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the Durango is a genuine seven-seater with a flexible cabin that offers up to 50 different seating configurations. The three-zone climate control is powerful enough to combat a 45 degree Celsius summer, ensuring rear passengers stay cool via dedicated roof-mounted vents. Standard tech includes a touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while the acoustic glass helps keep the cabin quiet during long desert drives.

Safety

Safety is comprehensive for the GT trim, featuring a ParkView rear back-up camera and ParkSense rear sensors as standard. It includes essential active systems like Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Trailer Sway Damping, and Hill Start Assist, which are vital for maintaining control on sandy or uneven surfaces. Multiple airbags and a high-strength steel frame provide excellent passive protection for the entire family.

The bottom line

This is the ideal opportunity for a GCC family seeking a low-mileage, high-spec SUV that balances American muscle styling with sensible V6 running costs.
