Summary

This GCC-spec Ford Edge SE is a compelling choice for UAE buyers seeking a mid-size SUV that balances daily utility with highway performance. In the local market, black remains a highly desirable resale color, perfectly complementing the Edge’s wide, assertive stance. The 2.0L EcoBoost powertrain is particularly well-suited for long-distance cruising between emirates, offering a smooth power delivery that rivals larger V6 competitors. With 133,000 km, this vehicle has been used consistently for regional travel, reflecting the typical high-mileage highway driving patterns common across the GCC. It stands out in its segment for class-leading cabin quietness and a robust All-Wheel Drive system that provides added confidence during sudden seasonal rain or on gravel-strewn bypass roads.

This Car vs Other 2020 Edges

At 133,000 km, this Edge sits at the average mileage mark for a four-year-old vehicle in the GCC, where annual distances of 25,000 to 30,000 km are standard. The black exterior is a significant advantage in the UAE used market, typically commandingly faster resale times than bolder, niche colors. As a GCC-spec model, it features the factory-upgraded cooling systems essential for maintaining performance during peak summer temperatures.

SE vs Lower Trims

The SE trim serves as the entry point but is exceptionally well-equipped for the region, featuring the full Ford Co-Pilot360 safety suite as standard. It includes essential tech like a 10-way power driver’s seat and dual-zone automatic climate control, which are often expensive options on rivals. Unlike basic fleet-spec SUVs, the SE also provides the SYNC 3 infotainment system with full Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration.

Edge vs Segment Rivals

The Ford Edge leads competitors like the Honda Pilot and Mazda CX-9 in terms of raw cargo flexibility and highway cabin insulation. While rivals often feel underpowered with naturally aspirated engines, the Edge's turbocharged torque provides superior overtaking ability on fast-moving highways like the E11. Its wider track also offers a more planted feel at speed compared to more top-heavy crossovers in this price bracket.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for this AWD EcoBoost model averages approximately 10.0 L/100km, performing efficiently during long-distance highway hauls. Ford’s authorized service network is extensive across the UAE and Saudi Arabia, ensuring parts availability is never a concern. The Edge maintains a stable depreciation curve in the GCC, typically retaining about 55-60% of its value after three to four years, making it a safer financial bet than many European alternatives.

Performance & Capability

With 250 hp and 380 Nm of torque, this Edge handles highway merges and heavy loads with ease, reaching 0-100 km/h in approximately 8.1 seconds. The Intelligent All-Wheel Drive system constantly monitors traction, seamlessly shifting power to the wheels that need it most on slippery or uneven surfaces. It also boasts a substantial 1,588 kg towing capacity, making it a capable companion for towing jet skis or small trailers for weekend adventures.

Comfort & Cabin

The five-seat layout focuses on maximum passenger volume, offering more second-row legroom than many three-row SUVs. The air conditioning is specifically calibrated for the Gulf climate, featuring powerful dual-zone control to keep the cabin chilled even in 45°C heat. Acoustic windshield glass and active noise cancellation ensure a hushed environment, perfect for long family road trips across the emirates.

Safety

Standard safety is a hallmark of this trim, featuring Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) with Cross-Traffic Alert, which is vital for multi-lane highway driving. The package also includes Lane-Keeping Assist, Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking, and a high-resolution rearview camera. These active systems work together to provide a safety net that is often relegated to top-tier trims in competing models.

The bottom line

This Edge SE is ideal for the value-conscious family or professional who prioritizes safety and highway comfort in a proven GCC-spec package.
