Summary

This 2020 GMC Yukon SLE is a quintessential GCC family cruiser, offering the massive interior volume and road presence that makes it a staple on regional highways. With 130,000 km, the mileage is perfectly aligned with typical long-distance use in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, where these robust V8 engines are known to last for decades. The black exterior is a high-demand choice in the local market, ensuring it maintains a professional look and strong resale appeal across the Gulf. As an SLE trim, it provides the core utility of a full-size SUV without the maintenance complexity of air suspension, making it a sensible choice for those prioritizing long-term durability. The single most important consideration for any local buyer is the GCC-spec cooling system, which is factory-tuned to maintain peak performance during extreme summer heat.

This Car vs Other 2020 Yukons

At 130,000 km, this Yukon has been driven roughly 26,000 km per year, which is average for a full-size SUV used for inter-city travel in the GCC. While higher than global averages, this indicates the vehicle has been regularly cycled on highways, keeping the mechanical systems conditioned. The black exterior is a major resale advantage in the UAE, consistently ranking as one of the fastest-selling colors in the used market.

SLE vs Lower Trims

The SLE serves as the essential entry point into the Yukon lineup, but it still includes features that GCC buyers prioritize, such as the Bose 9-speaker premium audio system and tri-zone automatic climate control. Unlike base fleet specs, this trim includes a large 8-inch touchscreen with smartphone integration and Rainsense wipers, offering a modern cabin experience without the added cost of the SLT's leather-only configuration.

Yukon vs Segment Rivals

The Yukon leads its primary rival, the Nissan Patrol, in highway stability and interior configuration flexibility, particularly for large families requiring easy access to the third row. Its 98-litre fuel tank provides a superior cruising range for long desert highway stretches between Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Riyadh compared to smaller-displacement European SUVs. The naturally aspirated V8 is also significantly easier to service across the wider GCC region than the turbocharged alternatives found in the Ford Expedition.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 5.3L V8 typically averages 10.5 L/100km on the highway, though this will rise to approximately 15.7 L/100km in heavy GCC city traffic. Service intervals are recommended every 10,000 km, and as a GCC-spec vehicle, it benefits from a vast network of authorized service centers in every major city across the UAE, Oman, and Saudi Arabia. The Yukon enjoys excellent value retention, typically holding a higher percentage of its original price after four years than its European luxury counterparts.

Performance & Capability

The 5.3L EcoTec3 V8 produces 355 hp, delivering enough torque to make highway overtaking effortless even when fully loaded with seven passengers. Its body-on-frame construction and four-wheel-drive system provide genuine durability for weekend beach trips or gravel paths, while the selectable Tow/Haul mode optimizes transmission points for heavy loads. This mechanical layout is specifically designed to withstand the high-speed, high-temperature driving common on regional motorways.

Comfort & Cabin

The 7-seat layout provides ample legroom across all three rows, with the tri-zone climate control system ensuring that rear passengers stay cool even when external temperatures exceed 45°C. Acoustic laminated glass helps isolate the cabin from wind noise during fast highway cruising, while the Bose audio system provides a premium listening environment for long family road trips. The cabin design emphasizes storage, with multiple USB ports and power outlets to keep all devices charged during travel.

Safety

Safety is managed through a comprehensive suite of features including Front and Rear Park Assist, which is vital for maneuvering a vehicle of this size in tight city spaces. The Yukon comes standard with StabiliTrak stability control and a full array of airbags, providing peace of mind for family transport. These systems are particularly effective on the high-speed highways of the UAE, where active stability management is a key asset during sudden lane changes or inclement weather.

The bottom line

This GCC-spec Yukon is the ideal match for a large family needing a dependable long-distance cruiser that handles the local climate with ease. It represents a strong opportunity to own a high-demand black V8 SUV with a transparent mileage history and excellent regional parts support.
