GMC Yukon DENALI COOL BOX/HF TAILGATE

Highlights

• 420 hp from a 6.2-liter V8 engine
• Cooled centre console standard
• 3,674 kg braked towing capacity

Summary

This GCC-spec SUV remains a sought-after executive family hauler, especially in the grey exterior which holds strong resale value in the local market. With its 6.2-liter V8, this trim offers a significant performance jump over the standard 5.3-liter variants found elsewhere. At 11 years old with 185,000 km, its mileage is well within the typical range for a full-sized SUV in the GCC, where long-distance desert highway travel is the norm. It stands out from rivals like the Ford Expedition by offering a more premium interior and the distinctive Magnetic Ride Control for superior comfort. For the GCC buyer, the standard factory cool box and powerful tri-zone climate control make it perfectly suited for the region's intense summer heat.

This Car vs Other 2015 Yukons

With 185,000 km over 11 years, this vehicle has averaged roughly 16,800 km annually, which is lower than the typical GCC average of 20,000–25,000 km for large SUVs. The grey exterior is a highly practical choice for the region, showing less dust than black while maintaining better resale liquidity than niche colors. While many Yukons of this era are the base 5.3-liter SLE models, this unit carries the high-output powertrain preferred for highway overtaking and heavy towing.

DENALI COOL BOX/HF TAILGATE vs Lower Trims

This trim adds the essential integrated refrigerator (cool box) in the center console, a must-have for GCC summers that is absent in SLE and SLT trims. It also features a hands-free power tailgate and the exclusive 6.2-liter V8 engine, providing 65 more horsepower than the standard 5.3-liter V8. Buyers also benefit from the Magnetic Ride Control suspension and a premium Bose Centerpoint surround sound system as standard equipment.

Yukon vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Toyota Land Cruiser and Nissan Patrol of the same era, the Yukon Denali offers a more car-like, refined highway ride thanks to its adaptive suspension. Its V8 powertrain delivers more torque than the naturally aspirated units in rivals, making it exceptionally capable for towing boats or trailers across the Emirates. While the Land Cruiser focuses on off-road hardware, the Yukon leads in cabin technology and long-distance seat comfort.

Running Costs & Resale

The 6.2-liter V8 features Active Fuel Management, which deactivates cylinders during highway cruising to optimize consumption, typically averaging 14–16 L/100km in mixed GCC driving. Maintenance is supported by an extensive authorized service network across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, with recommended service intervals every 10,000 km. Denali trims traditionally retain their value better than lower trims in the GCC, benefiting from high demand in the used market for top-spec American SUVs.

Performance & Capability

The 420 hp V8 engine allows this large SUV to reach 100 km/h in approximately 6 seconds, providing confident power for fast-moving highway traffic in Dubai or Riyadh. With a braked towing capacity of 3,674 kg, it is one of the most capable haulers in its class. The All-Wheel Drive system and high ground clearance ensure stability during weekend trips to the desert or when navigating gravel terrain.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is configured with seven seats, offering ample room for large families and high-quality leather upholstery throughout. GCC-specific comfort is prioritized with powerful tri-zone automatic climate control and a factory-integrated cool box to keep beverages chilled. Active noise cancellation and acoustic laminated glass ensure the interior remains a quiet sanctuary, even at high highway speeds.

Safety

This trim is equipped with a comprehensive safety suite including a 360-degree camera, Forward Collision Alert, and Side Blind Zone Alert, which are invaluable for managing large vehicle dimensions in busy city traffic. It also features the Safety Alert Seat, which uses haptic vibrations to warn the driver of potential hazards. Standard stability control and multiple airbags provide peace of mind for family road trips across the borders.

The bottom line

For a buyer seeking a high-spec, GCC-ready family SUV with the powerful 6.2L engine and a desirable color, this Denali represents a mechanically sound and prestigious choice.
