Summary

This 2020 GMC Yukon SLE is a quintessential GCC family workhorse, offering a silver exterior that is arguably the most practical choice for the region's intense sunlight and resale market. As the final year of its generation, it benefits from a highly refined and durable 5.3L V8 powertrain that is widely respected by local workshops for its long-term reliability. Despite the 154,000 km, this mileage is well within the expected range for a 4-year-old large SUV in the UAE, where highway commutes between emirates are the norm. It stands out from lighter crossovers with its robust body-on-frame construction, making it equally capable for school runs and weekend camping trips in the desert. For a buyer seeking the best balance of space and proven American engineering, this GCC-spec listing is a dependable entry point into full-size SUV ownership.

This Car vs Other 2020 Yukons

With 154,000 km on the odometer, this Yukon sits at an average mileage for a GCC-based family vehicle, reflecting the typical 35,000–40,000 km annual usage seen in the UAE. The silver exterior is a top-tier choice for the local market, as it hides dust effectively and retains more value than non-neutral colors at resale. Choosing a GCC-spec model like this ensures the cooling system and radio frequencies are optimized for the region, a critical factor compared to American imports.

SLE vs Lower Trims

The SLE serves as the essential gateway to the Yukon experience, but it still includes premium GCC essentials like a powerful tri-zone climate control system and a remote starter—perfect for cooling the cabin before entry in the summer. It offers a 5.3L V8 that provides nearly the same real-world utility as higher trims without the added complexity of air suspension. This trim also retains a high-capacity 91-litre fuel tank, ensuring fewer stops on long cross-country drives.

Yukon vs Segment Rivals

The Yukon is frequently cross-shopped with the Nissan Patrol and Toyota Land Cruiser, but it leads the segment in terms of pure cargo volume behind the third row and a more relaxed highway cruising demeanor. Its V8 engine is engineered for low-end torque, making it a smoother towing platform than many V6-powered rivals. For families, the Yukon's cabin width offers superior shoulder room, ensuring three adults or children can sit comfortably in the middle row.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for this 5.3L V8 typically averages 14.5 L/100km on the highway, though GCC stop-start city traffic can push this toward 19 L/100km. Service intervals are recommended every 10,000 km, and with one of the region's most established parts networks, maintenance is generally more affordable than European alternatives. The Yukon maintains a strong resale profile in the UAE, typically seeing a steady 12-15% annual depreciation, which is resilient for a vehicle of this size.

Performance & Capability

The 355 hp V8 provides effortless highway overtaking, a vital trait for the fast-paced multi-lane roads of the UAE. It features a robust four-wheel-drive system with a selectable transfer case, allowing for confident navigation through soft sand and gravel during desert excursions. With a maximum braked towing capacity of 3,810 kg, it is more than capable of hauling large boats or horse trailers common in the GCC lifestyle.

Comfort & Cabin

This 7-seater configuration emphasizes passenger comfort with dedicated rear AC vents that are essential for maintaining cabin temperatures during peak GCC summers. The cabin is heavily insulated with acoustic laminated glass to minimize road noise during long-distance drives between Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The interior is designed for durability, featuring easy-to-clean materials that stand up well to family use and fine desert sand.

Safety

Standard safety features include a comprehensive airbag suite and a rearview camera to assist with parking this large SUV in urban areas. For GCC highway driving, the stability and traction control systems provide essential oversight on sandy or rain-slicked tarmac. The Yukon’s heavy-duty frame also offers a natural safety advantage in terms of occupant protection compared to smaller monocoque vehicles.

The bottom line

Perfect for the growing GCC family that needs a reliable, full-size SUV for both daily city use and long-distance exploration. This GCC-spec Yukon SLE offers the durability of an 8-cylinder American workhorse with the peace of mind of a silver resale-friendly finish.
