• 278 mm maximum ground clearance

Summary

This 2020 Range Rover Sport SE is a sophisticated choice for GCC buyers seeking the prestige of the Sport line with a focus on modern efficiency. While many in the region opt for the larger V6 or V8, this turbocharged 2.0L unit provides surprising agility and lower running costs for city-heavy driving in Dubai or Riyadh. The black-on-black aesthetic remains the strongest for resale value across the Emirates, ensuring this remains a liquid asset in the used market. Despite its road-focused trim, it retains the legendary Land Rover air suspension and terrain capability required for weekend desert escapes. For a GCC buyer, this represents an accessible entry point into luxury SUV ownership with a specification that handles heat and highway commutes with ease.

This Car vs Other 2020 Range Rover Sports

With 123,000 km, this vehicle sits at a typical average for a four-year-old GCC-based SUV, where highway-heavy commutes between emirates often result in higher annual totals than international averages. Its black exterior is the most sought-after color in the regional used market, providing a distinct advantage for future resale compared to niche tones. The 2.0L P300 powertrain is less common than the P360, offering a specific value case for buyers prioritizing fuel economy over raw towing power.

SE vs Lower Trims

The SE trim serves as the foundation for the Sport range but includes high-demand GCC essentials that lower 'S' trims lack, most notably the electronic air suspension for adjustable ride height. It features the Touch Pro Duo dual-screen infotainment system as standard, alongside grained leather upholstery and 14-way power-adjustable front seats. Buyers also benefit from standard LED headlights and front/rear parking sensors, which are vital for navigating tight urban parking in the region.

Range Rover Sport vs Segment Rivals

The Range Rover Sport leads the Porsche Cayenne and BMW X5 in pure off-road geometry, offering superior wading depth and ground clearance for regional terrain. While the X5 focuses on on-road electronics, the Sport provides a more command-focused driving position and a 104-litre fuel tank that is ideal for long-distance desert highway runs. Its iconic silhouette and brand cachet typically command a higher social status in GCC markets than its German counterparts.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for this P300 engine averages approximately 9.4L/100km on combined cycles, though GCC stop-start traffic in peak summer may see this rise. As a GCC-spec vehicle, it benefits from a wide network of authorized Al Tayer and Euro Motors service centers across the UAE and wider region, ensuring parts availability remains high. While European luxury SUVs experience steeper depreciation than Japanese alternatives, the Sport maintains one of the strongest residual values in its class due to high local demand.

Performance & Capability

Delivering a 0-100 km/h time of 7.3 seconds, this 300 hp engine provides punchy acceleration that is perfectly suited for merging onto fast-moving GCC highways. The standard all-wheel-drive system is paired with Land Rover’s Terrain Response, featuring dedicated modes for sand and gravel to handle local weekend adventures. The self-leveling air suspension not only improves high-speed stability but can also be raised to its 278 mm maximum to clear obstacles or lowered for easy access in city garages.

Comfort & Cabin

The five-seat cabin is designed for the high-temperature GCC climate, featuring a powerful dual-zone climate control system that effectively cools the large interior volume. The Touch Pro Duo system allows for seamless navigation and media control across two 10-inch high-definition screens, keeping the cockpit looking modern and uncluttered. Acoustic glass and extensive insulation ensure the cabin remains a quiet sanctuary, shielded from the wind noise common on 140 km/h highway stretches.

Safety

Standard safety features on the SE trim include Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning, and front and rear parking aids to assist in narrow urban environments. The vehicle is equipped with a comprehensive six-airbag system and Dynamic Stability Control, which is specifically tuned to prevent rollovers and maintain traction on loose sand or rain-slicked asphalt. For long desert drives, the standard Cruise Control and speed limiter help maintain steady progress across borders.

The bottom line

This GCC-spec Range Rover Sport is the ideal choice for the urban professional who wants the presence of a luxury SUV with the sensible running costs of a 2.0L engine. Its classic black-on-black configuration and maintained mileage make it a safe and stylish investment for the regional market.
