Summary

This 6-year-old Nissan Armada SL offers a compelling mix of heavy-duty capability and family-focused luxury in a grey finish that holds its value well in the GCC market. With 100,000 km, the mileage is perfectly aligned with the average annual use expected for a full-size SUV in this region. The 5.6L V8 provides effortless power for highway cruising between cities, while the SL trim upgrades the interior with premium leather and advanced tech. In a segment dominated by expensive rivals, this Armada stands out for its robust body-on-frame construction and legendary Nissan durability. It remains one of the most practical 8-seaters for long-distance GCC travel, offering a superior cooling system designed for the desert heat.

This Car vs Other 2020 Armadas

With 100,000 km on the odometer, this vehicle has averaged roughly 16,600 km per year, which is significantly lower than the typical 20,000–25,000 km GCC average for large family SUVs. The grey exterior is a neutral, high-demand choice that aids in maintaining strong resale interest across the UAE and wider region. Choosing a GCC-spec model ensures the cooling system and upholstery are specifically engineered for extreme local temperatures.

SL vs Lower Trims

The SL trim is the sweet spot in the lineup, adding significant premium features over the base SV that GCC buyers value. Key upgrades include 20-inch alloy wheels, a power liftgate, and the Intelligent Around View Monitor for easier parking in tight urban spaces. Inside, the SL gains leather-appointed seating, remote engine start to pre-cool the cabin, and a driver-seat memory system, making it a much more refined experience than the entry-level cloth interior.

Armada vs Segment Rivals

The Nissan Armada competes directly with the Toyota Land Cruiser and Chevrolet Tahoe, leading the segment with a standard 8,500 lbs (3,856 kg) towing capacity that outperforms many peers. While rivals often charge a premium for V8 power, the Armada includes the 5.6L Endurance engine as standard, providing smoother overtaking on long desert highways. Its independent rear suspension offers a more composed ride on paved roads compared to the stiffer live-axle setups found in some competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the RWD 5.6L V8 typically averages around 15.4 L/100km, with highway efficiency improving on long stretches between emirates. Nissan maintains one of the most extensive authorized service networks in the GCC, including Arabian Automobiles and Al Masaood, ensuring parts are affordable and readily available. The Armada enjoys a slower depreciation rate than many European luxury SUVs, typically losing only 8-10% annually due to its reputation for mechanical longevity.

Performance & Capability

The 390 hp V8 engine delivers a robust 534 Nm of torque, allowing for a confident 0-100 km/h time of approximately 7 seconds, which is impressive for a vehicle of this scale. The Rear Wheel Drive configuration is optimized for highway efficiency and high-capacity towing, making it ideal for hauling boats or trailers across the UAE. Rugged body-on-frame construction ensures the chassis can handle the vibrations and demands of long-term GCC ownership without compromising structural integrity.

Comfort & Cabin

Designed for large families, this 8-seater features a tri-zone automatic climate control system with dedicated rear vents that are essential for maintaining comfort during 45 degree plus summers. The cabin is exceptionally quiet thanks to acoustic glass, providing a serene environment for the 13-speaker Bose premium audio system standard on this trim. With a 98-litre fuel tank, the Armada is purpose-built for long-range cruising, reducing the frequency of stops on cross-border road trips.

Safety

The 2020 Armada SL comes equipped with a comprehensive safety suite including Intelligent Forward Collision Warning and Automatic Emergency Braking as standard. The SL trim specifically adds the 360-degree Around View Monitor, which is invaluable for navigating a large SUV through busy city traffic or tight parking garages. Additional features like Blind Spot Warning and Rear Cross Traffic Alert provide essential assistance on the fast-moving multi-lane highways common throughout the GCC.

The bottom line

This Armada SL is the perfect match for a family looking for V8 power and leather luxury without the premium price of a Land Cruiser, benefiting from a well-documented service history and GCC-specific preparation.
