Summary

This 2021 Hyundai Palisade in Premium Nappa trim offers a high-specification family experience that rivals more expensive luxury brands in the GCC. With the refined 3.8L V6 engine and All Wheel Drive, it handles long highway cruises between emirates with ease and stability. The grey exterior is a practical choice for the region, maintaining strong resale appeal while hiding the inevitable desert dust. As a top-tier trim, it provides the full suite of comfort features, including ventilated Nappa leather seats that are essential for the local summer. For a buyer seeking maximum utility and premium refinement, this Palisade represents one of the most complete packages in the three-row SUV segment.

This Car vs Other 2021 Palisades

With 84,135 km on the odometer, this Palisade has been driven roughly 21,000 km per year, which is perfectly aligned with average annual use for family SUVs in the GCC. The grey exterior is among the most sought-after colors for resale in the local market, trailing only white and silver for value retention. As an American spec vehicle, it offers the high equipment levels typically found in North American flagship trims, though buyers should confirm service history with local independent specialists.

PREMIUM NAPPA vs Lower Trims

The Premium Nappa trim significantly upgrades the cabin experience over the SE and SEL models, featuring quilted Nappa leather upholstery and a premium 12-speaker Harman Kardon audio system. It adds essential GCC-friendly features such as ventilated seats for both the front and second rows, alongside a dual-pane sunroof and a 360-degree surround-view monitor. You also benefit from a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen with integrated navigation and a full digital instrument cluster that lower trims lack.

Palisade vs Segment Rivals

The Palisade leads the Kia Telluride and Honda Pilot in interior material quality, particularly in this Nappa-equipped trim which feels notably more executive. Its 71-liter fuel tank is optimized for long-distance cruising, providing a substantial highway range that beats many rivals during cross-border GCC road trips. The cabin isolation and ride quality are specifically tuned to offer a quieter experience than the Toyota Highlander, making it a preferred choice for highway-heavy commuting.

Running Costs & Resale

The 3.8L V6 is a proven, naturally aspirated powertrain that avoids the complexity of turbochargers, ensuring long-term reliability in extreme heat. Real-world fuel consumption averages around 10.7L/100km on the highway, though GCC stop-start city traffic will see this rise toward 13.5L/100km. Hyundai enjoys a massive authorized service network via Juma Al Majid in the UAE and Wallan or Naghi in Saudi Arabia, ensuring parts are always accessible. The Palisade historically retains approximately 50% of its value after five years, performing strongly against American and European rivals.

Performance & Capability

The 291-hp V6 delivers smooth, linear power that makes highway overtaking effortless even when fully loaded with seven passengers. The HTRAC All Wheel Drive system provides multiple terrain modes (Snow, Mud, Sand), giving you additional confidence for weekend beach trips or gravel roads. While not a dedicated off-roader, its 203mm ground clearance and self-leveling rear suspension ensure the car remains composed when towing or carrying heavy family cargo across the Emirates.

Comfort & Cabin

The interior is defined by its seven-seat layout, featuring second-row captain chairs that create a 'walk-through' cabin ideal for larger families. A powerful three-zone climate control system with dedicated rear vents ensures the third row stays cool during July peaks, while acoustic glass reduces wind noise at high speeds. Tech highlights include a head-up display and a wireless charging pad, catering to the needs of modern GCC drivers on long commutes.

Safety

This trim features a full ADAS suite including Forward Collision-Avoidance, Lane Keeping Assist, and Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance which is vital for multi-lane highway driving. The 360-degree camera and rear cross-traffic alert make parking this large SUV in tight mall spaces much simpler. Standard safety hardware includes a comprehensive seven-airbag system and a 5-star safety rating from international testing bodies, providing peace of mind for family transport.

The bottom line

This Palisade Premium Nappa is the ideal choice for a family looking for a high-spec flagship SUV that avoids the high maintenance costs of European luxury brands. It is a rare opportunity to secure a top-tier, low-stress family cruiser that is perfectly specced for the GCC climate.
