Summary

This 2021 Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 S Coupe represents the final era of the pure V8 biturbo powertrain, making it a highly sought-after performance SUV in the GCC. With its 510 hp output and aggressive Coupe styling, it stands apart from standard SUVs by offering genuine sports car acceleration in a versatile frame. The Grey exterior is a high-demand color in the local market, ensuring strong resale value and heat management compared to darker shades. Having covered 67,800 km in 5 years, its mileage is well below the typical GCC average of 100,000+ km for a vehicle of this age. For a buyer seeking the ultimate blend of AMG's 'One Man, One Engine' heritage and daily practicality, this Canadian-spec S trim is a standout choice.

This Car vs Other 2021 GLC 63 AMGs

At 5 years old, this car's mileage of 67,800 km is significantly lower than the average 100,000–125,000 km usually seen on GCC performance SUVs used for daily commutes between Emirates. The Grey exterior is one of the most stable colors for value retention in the UAE and Saudi markets, offering better aesthetic longevity than non-metallic options. As a Canadian-spec vehicle, it provides identical mechanical performance to local models while often featuring high-specification cold-weather packages that include enhanced heating systems alongside standard high-output cooling.

S vs Lower Trims

The 'S' designation is a critical differentiator in the GCC market, raising power from the standard AMG's 476 hp to a formidable 510 hp. Beyond the engine tune, this trim adds essential performance hardware including an electronically controlled rear-axle limited-slip differential and the AMG Driver's Package, which increases the top speed to 280 km/h. Inside, S models are typically distinguished by Nappa leather upholstery and the AMG Performance steering wheel as standard, features that carry a significant premium at resale.

GLC 63 AMG vs Segment Rivals

The GLC 63 S is the only vehicle in its immediate class to offer a biturbo V8, providing a distinct acoustic and torque advantage over the 6-cylinder BMW X4 M Competition and Porsche Macan GTS. While rivals focus on high-revving precision, the Mercedes leads with a massive 700 Nm of torque, making it superior for effortless highway overtaking on long GCC stretches. Its air suspension system also provides a broader range of comfort, allowing for a softer cruise during city driving compared to the often-stiff setups found in its German competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

Fuel consumption averages approximately 12.2 L/100km combined, though city driving in heavy Dubai or Riyadh traffic will see this rise; it requires high-octane Super 98 fuel to maintain engine health. Service intervals are managed by the ASSYST PLUS system, typically occurring every 15,000 km or 12 months at authorized centers available across all major GCC cities. While European performance SUVs depreciate faster than Japanese luxury cars, the GLC 63 S holds its value better than the standard GLC range due to the discontinued nature of its V8 engine.

Performance & Capability

The headline 3.8-second 0–100 km/h sprint is achieved via the 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive system, which features fully variable torque distribution for maximum grip on both sun-baked asphalt and sandy coastal roads. The 9-speed MCT transmission uses a wet start-off clutch instead of a torque converter, providing the rapid response needed for spirited driving through the Jebel Jais mountain passes. Multiple drive modes, including 'Race' mode exclusive to the S trim, allow the driver to stiffen the chassis and sharpen throttle response instantly.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a 5-seat environment focused on driver engagement, featuring heavily bolstered AMG sports seats that provide exceptional support during high-speed cornering. Standard features for this trim include a high-resolution digital cockpit and a premium Burmester surround sound system, ideal for long-distance desert drives. Dual-zone climate control with dedicated rear vents ensures the cabin remains pressurized and cool even during peak summer temperatures exceeding 45°C.

Safety

Safety is managed by a comprehensive suite of ADAS features, including Active Brake Assist and Blind Spot Assist, which are vital for navigating fast-moving, multi-lane GCC highways. The 4MATIC+ system provides a layer of active safety by constantly adjusting power to the wheels with the most traction, ensuring stability on gravel-strewn surfaces or during sudden rain showers. Standard adaptive LED headlights provide superior visibility for night driving on unlit rural roads between major cities.

The bottom line

This is a rare opportunity to own a low-mileage, V8-powered AMG Coupe in a prime resale color, perfect for the enthusiast who values displacement and heritage before the industry shifts toward smaller engines.
