Summary

This 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLS450 represents a sophisticated choice for GCC families, offering an average of 22,600 km per year which aligns with typical regional highway use. Finished in silver, it holds one of the strongest resale values in the local market while providing the high-speed stability required for long inter-emirate journeys. As the S-Class of SUVs, it stands out from rivals with its superior cabin insulation and effortless air-sprung ride quality. For a GCC buyer, this American-spec model offers the flagship luxury of the GLS line with the added efficiency of the mild-hybrid powertrain, ideal for stop-start traffic. This specific listing is an excellent entry point into Mercedes-Benz flagship ownership without the depreciation curve of a brand-new vehicle.

This Car vs Other 2021 GLS450s

With 113,098 km on the odometer, this vehicle’s mileage is average for a 5-year-old car in the GCC, where long-distance commutes are standard. The silver exterior is highly practical for the region, reflecting heat efficiently and maintaining high demand in the used market. Being a later model of the X167 generation, it benefits from the matured MBUX infotainment ecosystem which remains a benchmark for cabin technology.

4MATIC vs Lower Trims

The GLS450 4MATIC comes standard with features often optional on smaller SUVs, including the AIRMATIC air suspension and 360-degree camera system. Over lower-tier Mercedes SUVs, this trim adds a genuinely usable power-folding third row and four-zone climate control, which are essential for keeping all seven passengers cool during a GCC summer. It also features the 13-speaker Burmester surround-sound system as standard, providing a significant audio upgrade over base-tier configurations.

GLS450 vs Segment Rivals

The GLS450 is often cross-shopped with the BMW X7 and Range Rover, leading the segment in cargo flexibility with up to 2,400 litres of space when rear seats are flat. Its inline-six engine with EQ Boost provides a smoother power delivery than the Cadillac Escalade’s V8, making it more refined for city driving in Dubai or Riyadh. Furthermore, its 90-litre fuel tank ensures fewer stops on long desert highway stretches compared to smaller-tank rivals.

Running Costs & Resale

The mild-hybrid 3.0L engine delivers a combined fuel consumption of approximately 10.2L/100km, though expect this to rise to 15L/100km in heavy GCC city traffic. While American-spec vehicles may not carry a local agency warranty, parts availability for the GLS is excellent across the UAE and Saudi Arabia due to high model popularity. The GLS maintains a competitive depreciation rate of roughly 12-15% annually, outperforming several European rivals in the luxury 7-seat segment.

Performance & Capability

Propelled by 367 hp and a 48V EQ Boost system, the GLS450 reaches 100 km/h in 6.2 seconds, providing ample power for high-speed highway overtaking. The standard 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system and adjustable air suspension offer a composed ride over varied surfaces, from smooth highways to gravel access roads. It features a maximum braked towing capacity of 3,500 kg, making it a capable partner for towing boats or trailers during weekend getaways.

Comfort & Cabin

The interior features 7 seats with ventilated front memory seats as standard, a critical feature for the 45°C+ summer months. Rear passengers benefit from dedicated climate zones and ample legroom in the second row, which can be power-adjusted for comfort. The cabin is exceptionally quiet, utilizing acoustic glazing to isolate occupants from wind noise and external heat, ensuring a premium environment even on the longest road trips.

Safety

Standard safety equipment on this trim includes a comprehensive ADAS suite featuring Blind Spot Assist, Active Brake Assist, and the 360-degree Surround View camera. These systems are particularly valuable for navigating the wide, fast-moving highways of the UAE. It also includes Mercedes-Benz PRE-SAFE technology, which prepares the cabin and occupants if an imminent collision is detected, alongside a full array of front, side, and curtain airbags for all three rows.

The bottom line

This GLS450 is perfect for a growing family looking for S-Class luxury and 7-seat practicality in a high-resale color. It offers a premium Mercedes-Benz experience that is mechanically well-suited to the demands of GCC highway driving.
